I am very happy I was taught very good bankroll management very early in my developement as a poker player. I am going thru the worst run of my short MTT career. I cant avoid the suckout or win that important race late in a tournament for the past 45 days. I am looking at my first losing month playing exclusively MTT's in a year, unless I get a nice turn around which is definately still possible. I believe I am still playing well because of the results I am still posting, making it deep in many different tournaments (19% ITM). But because for the past year I have used very good bankroll management, I could go on another 180 days without winning anything significant, and still be able to play any of my normal tournament schedule. Variance blows small bears, it will get you, it gets everyone. Your bankroll is your work truck, get rid of your work truck you cant work. Treat your bankroll with tons of respect and it will be there when you are pulling out of the sucky periods that poker throws at every player. Make sure its still available and your not on the sidelines wishing you were playing. Its a tough lesson but well worth it.

sry to hear that golfer, but i am sure it will turn soon!! you r a good player, but as you said MOST IMPORTANT thing is to know how to handle your bankroll and to know when it is time for a break!

coudlnt agree more...I am not on my 3rd month of the worse run anyone can imagine. When you people hear every players goes through runs that are horrendous, believe them. I am 0 for my last 22 races and 2/16 before that. Trust me things can get bad. Stay within your bankroll. Its is the most important thing a player can do.

Well said. I have no doubts that you own your work truck free and clear and then some. Much respect, sc.

sc...you own bro. As Corey said, we all go through it, but when it turns you'll start crushing again just like you did all of last year. I'm going to Vegas from Monday to Thursday but we should try and get together if you're around next weekend. email me.
Great post about br mngt. 100% the most important thing.

I'm with ya, Scgolfer. I was just telling Mhoddi that I'm cold as hell at MTTs. I can't win a race to save my life. I've been playing other things to make money in the meantime, but it just doesn't feel as good as doing well in a tourney.
You're a helluva player. Weather the storm and you'll be fine, man. Good luck to ya.

My month so far...
However in cash games I'm up around 12k and up around 4k in sngs.... Having the same problem as you scgolfer... Have either been losing crucial races very late or getting outdrawn very late. In at least 15 of those tourneys if I win as a 3 or 4 to 1 favorite I have a gigantic stack and would probably final table. And, I admit, there have been a few bad (way too aggressive) plays here and there as well. On the bright side for me, losing has made me analyze my game quite a bit more and I have been keeping better records, reading alot more and studying. I'm sure once you (or I) get our 1 big win this month will be a winning month. Variance is a bitch, especially in MTTs. I'm right there w/ you...
