FT of GSOP EVENT #3 - still mixed feelings

By abakus73 - Sep 30 2009, 11:27 AM

man it was a crazy night as i decided to play a qualifier for the gsop #3 event at ongame. arround 600 ppl battled for 44 seats and i got a very comfortable stack with 40k in chips and average at 26k having 53 ppl left and blinds 5k/10k when I was BB and got dealt AKo and the whole table folded to the CL in SB. he had 70k and raised it to 20k and I put in the chat "i have a huge hand" and shoved all in. he tanked and called with AJs to suck me out on a low board with J at river :-(

I was sooooo angry as I could normally fold to his raise to still blind through to a seat but this guy sucked another player out 2 hands b4 with QJ vs AK with J on flop and played loose as only donky fishes do - so I had to call his monkey play - anyway...
beeing angry about this crap raise and needless call of my reraise all in I decided to pay the buyin of 162$ and started the tourney at 8 pm german time.

after getting one AA in the first hour paid on flop and turn for an increase in stack from 2.5k to 3.5k i got really nothing... I made moves here and there and got slidly down to arround 2k with blinds at 100/200 already - RED ZONE ALERT - in the third hour I got my second AA and on a very active table I sat with ongame regs like ripcheader and vickpockets. a very loose player made it 1k pre and I shove over with my 2k on button to get his sure call. he turned 99 and the magic starts again:

flop 689 rainbow - turn 7 - river 5  phewwww

a bit angry about nearly got sucked I was at least happy to stay in the game and 4 hands later i got AQ at CO and pushed all in to get a call from a medium stack at BB holding 1010. flop aax and no 10 lift me up to 5k and the BB whined about loosing and the tourney would be over for him... what ? he still had 5k and me also at 5k now with average of i guess 11k at still 100/200 blinds. we both are short but not hopeless :-)

later in the same hour I got KK and called an all in from early position to double to 11k average vs 99 and only 5 hands later I have AA in MP to get an all in in front of me from a small stack and flat calling brings another big stack on button to reraise all in and my call brings a pot of 25k vs Ax from the small stack and a JJ from the reraiser :-)

5th hour starts as we are down to 162 from over 1k ppl and 130 pays... me at 106 !
I won some small pots to increase to 40k stack b4 getting moved to a new table.
while checking the stats of the new guys and observing their play there where no cards at all for several orbits leaving a good and tight image to me as I nearly fold all hands until i get QJ suited in hearts. I decide to push as I'm in the SB and the BB played also tight and he's not having that good stats... raising to 2,5 BB and he called after a while. flop is AKx 2 diamonds and representing the A i bet 3/4 pot with him calling again after a while. turn brings 10 in diamonds giving me a broadway and after thinking a while I went all in (my thoughts - when he has flush he will call me anyway and I'm dead but if he's just drawing for flush I dont want him to draw me dead with my "still" nuts). He tanked and called with k5 5 in diamonds.... what a call :-)
so my all in did what i wanted....looked like a bluff and made him hoping for his 9 outer. And I boosted to 75k stack worth top 20 from 70 left - but moving goes on and 'bang' to another table with King_Dirk and after some hands over to another table with Across5thST. both nice guys but c'mon - how can you be moved so often ? I was totally busy checking stats and play - only advantage: I had nearly all the stats from all players left for further use :-)

Now something new: its not always sucking out on you - somtimes its coming back for a bit of revenge... had QQ in MP and table is medium active - I raised to 3 BB as kml77 reraised me all in for another 12 BB and as action folded back to me I decided to call (his not really good stats let me set him on Ax) - he is turning over KK :-( he had me covered and the flop was my friend bringing a Q with no outs for him at turn or river. BOOM - 140k stack top 6 !!!!
excusing myself I see the action going on to be down to last 20 (2 tables) where I was once again moved....what else :-) it felt like a punching ball....

sitting down with some nice guys like rigged88, _rensefest_ and citystamps we had a very actionpacked table. _rensefest_ was massive CL to my right and nearly pushed every 2nd hand and specially when I was in the BB. I told him on chat that I have the feeling he is nearly pushing any 2 on me in the BB and after several orbits he pushed again in MP and I had JJ to reraise him all in. me at 130k he at 340k or so. He insta called me with QQ and I made my last pray to get my second luckhit this night.
nothing till turn and J on river .... SICK :-)

I'm at 250k and number 3 from 18 ppl left and citystamps says: "hey cat your 9 lives are over" coz he saw my QQ vs KK suckout on the other table already.

from now on nothing special as rigged88 got 2 times monster AA/KK and was fully paid to take the chiplead as we moved to the final table in hour 6 :-)

YESSSSSSSSSSS - FT in a GSOP event - A nice FLOW !!!!!

what happend on the FT doesn't make me wonder coz I was just lucky beeing at FT - the following HAS TO HAPPEN after I sucked out others 2 times:

finally - 9th place for 2k $ but with this pot i would be comfortable in top3 with a good option for a 5 figures score. somehow bad but imagine the 2 lucky suckouts b4 I was at least happy to have my first gsop FT (btw it was my first gsop event i ever played)....
