Never done one of these before, this should be fun. Well tonight I'm back to donking off $$ in NLHE after my epic (donkish) takedown of the PLO8 OT Tourney on Sunday. Biggest win ever I'm not ashamed to say, and most fun I've had at the table in a while...tends to happen when you're winning.
I just realized the cash table I'm sitting as in standard PL Omaha, not O8...I really do suck at life.
Well I'd love to talk about work but not gonna happen right now for reason's you hear about soon, I promise. Actually, I do have something to say that's only slightly work related. I'm reading Sun Tzu right now for the second time and right off the bat they get into this story about Sun Tzu and the Emperor. Emperor doesn't believe Sun Tzu can command an 'army' of women and Sun Tzu says he can. So in comes something like 1000 concubines (sex slaves) that the Emperor owns. Sun Tzu divides them in two groups and lines them up and picks the emperor's two favorite concubines to head the two groups. He then proceeds to teach them left face and right face and about face w/ a spear in hand. They all get the instruction well and are capable of doing the tasks. Sun Tzu then states that as the drums begin to play he well tell them to turn in unison. Drums begin, he says 'left face' and the concubines start laughing. He acknowledges that perhaps he didn't communicate well enough his desires and teaches them all again until he is certain they understand. Again, the drums begin to beat and he says 'right face' and again the concubines laugh. Now he states that if the instruction is good the leadership is to blame and has the two leading concubines beheaded. Long story short, drums beat again, he says 'left face' and viola they perform the command perfectly.
My issue is this...why on earth would people allow dissent to continue to exist in any organization? You threaten punishment but it never comes and they continue to 'laugh' at your commands. Where can this organization go but down? This is a good story for any manager to understand imo, obviously we don't behead but we can fire and demote middle managers in an effort to regroup and refocus the 'army'.
