The Millionaire Maker is off and running at the 2013 World Series of Poker. If this is your first time hearing about the tournament, it’s a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event whose prize pool is top-heavy, creating a $1 million top payout. Players showed up early and often for the contest, with WSOP Vice President Ty Stewart Tweeting, “Over 2,700 already signed up for the 11am @WSOP session. Even poker players use alarm clocks when a Milly on the line. #gonnabehuge.”

BetVictor Pokerhas been at the forefront of online poker since 2002. From monthly Free Play Leagues and SNG leaderboards to Money Added VIP Tournaments and up to 30% Cash Back – to mention but a few promotions – BetVictor Poker ticks all the right boxes. Click hereto visit BetVictor Poker.

Huge it was. Shortly before 10:00am local time in Las Vegas, Stewart added on Twitter, “When are lines @wsop forgiven? When 4,000+ paid before most get up, reg open til 9:40p and they keep coming #millymaker.” There are two starting flights in the Millionaire Maker on Saturday, so the prize pool could easily balloon organically.

WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky heralded around Noon PT, “The @WSOP Millionaire Maker has just become the largest $1,500 buy-in live poker tournament in history. Just broke previous record of 3,929.”

Also on Twitter, several members of the PocketFives community were lining up to take part in the unique tournament. Among them was former PokerStarsCaribbean Adventure Main Event champ Ryan Daut44Daut, who Tweeted a quote that said, “A millionairemaker isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A billionairemaker.” Bracelet winner Eric basebaldy Baldwin added, “Over/Under on entrants that made a playlist consisting only of songs about millions? #MillyMaker.”

In line to register for the event, and upset that it took so long, was WSOP commentator Olivier livb112 Busquet, who Tweeted, “If you run a tournament series and people have to wait 45 minutes to reg 4 a tournament, you’re not doing your job well, @WSOP… 3 of the 12 registration windows in the main room are not being used right now.”

The field of the Millionaire Maker on Day 1A included a host of PocketFivers like Chris moorman1Moorman, Jonathan FieryJusticeLittle, and Steve MrTimCaum O’Dwyer. Pros like Greg Raymer, Nick Binger, and Erick Lindgren were also in the field. Day 1B begins at 5:00pm PT on Saturday and re-entry is allowed.

In other news, Event #2 of the 2013 WSOP, the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Eight-Max tournament, is down to its final table. PocketFives OT favorite Jared TheWacoKiddHamby (pictured) is among them, and sits in a tie for second place at 629,000 in chips. You can root on Hamby in this OT thread. In a massive lead is PocketFiver Trevor Pope, whose stack of 3.4 million is about equal to the other seven chip stacks at the table combined:
