Alexander Livingston is best known in the online poker world as rumnchess. One of the more prolific internet players of the last few years, Livingston excels at all sorts of games, from multi-table tournaments to short-handed sit and gos to cash games.

Prior to 2013, Livingston had been an active member of the online poker community for several years, gaining respect for his willingness to discuss strategy and being open and honest about his results. He is also known for his prop bets and challenges. One of the most eagerly followed took place in March 2011 when he decided to try to win $30,000 over the course of 21 days in heads-up sit and gos on Full Tilt Poker.

He got 5-to-1 odds, putting up $2,000 of his own money to win $10,000 (plus the at least $30,000 he’d win at the tables). He detailed his efforts in a thread on Two Plus Two, eventually profiting $3,500, well short of the mark.

In 2012, he attempted to win $15,000 at the Borgata in 11 days, mostly playing cash games. No prop bets were made on this one and it was a good thing for rumnchess, as he lost $3,325 during the challenge.

Those efforts aside, Livingston has been ranked as a top player by the various tracking sites, including PocketFives, where he once stood as high as 187th in the Online Poker Rankings (October 2011).

On the live tournament side, the Halifax, Nova Scotia resident has a very short resume with just five cashes to his credit, all below $10,000, though one was at the 2011 WSOP.

An interesting non-poker note about Livingston: he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2013. When asked by fellow poker Shane Shaniac Scheleger on Twitter if the trek has helped his tournament run, Livingston answered simply, “big time.”

Livingston has been providing poker updates via his @rumnchess account on Twitter.
