On Saturday, one member of the online poker community bought into a tournament for $215. Ninety-four minutes later, he walked away with $25,000 and a PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker title. In the short-term, that’s a $16,000 per hour gig, or $4.50 per second.

His name: ‘AntonKrasch‘. His nationality: Swiss. The game: No Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. The format: Six-Max Hyper-Turbo. The first place payout: $24,998.15. There were 641 entrants and the money bubble hit less than 50 minutes in.

“If you bought into the event and started watching the movie Rounders at the same time, the money bubble would have burst 49 minutes in,” the PokerStars Blog joked. “And this tournament would have ended in the middle of the infamous scene when Matt Damon plays Johnny Chan heads-up in a pot.”

Each level lasted 180 seconds, or three minutes, and ‘AntonKrasch’ was in fourth in chips entering the six-max final table. It wasn’t until three-handed that ‘AntonKrasch’ made his mark, pulling into the lead and then busting the former chip leader ‘SHIPP ITT‘, aka Mark ‘dipthrong’ Herm, in third. ‘AntonKrasch’ was ahead 4:1 in chips entering heads-up play and needed a dozen hands to seal the deal.

Mark Herm finished third in the NL Omaha Hi-Lo event

The No Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event was one of five that ran on Saturday as part of the 2016 TCOOP. Also on the books was Event #40, a $215 HORSE Turbo, which drew 337 entrants and had a $67,000 total prize pool. The winner: ‘maggess88‘ from the Netherlands, who earned his second COOP title. ‘maggess88’s’ other one came last year during the WCOOP in a $530 No Limit Hold’em Rebuy.

The final table of Event #40 also featured Anders ‘Donald‘ Berg, the owner of three WCOOP bracelets and two SCOOP victories. He narrowly scored a triple COOP on Saturday, but bowed out in sixth place. Interestingly, in ‘maggess88’s’ WCOOP win, another would-be triple COOP winner was at the final table; Peter ‘Belabacsi‘ Traply, however, finished second.

Zachary Zackattak13 Korik‘, who has $7.6 million in career online tournament winnings, won his second COOP title on Saturday in a $215 Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up Turbo. He won a mid-stakes SCOOP event four years ago and defeated Poland’s ‘flaszeczka‘ this time around after a two-way deal that saw each player bank $18,000 and play on for $2,000. The deal was made before any cards were dealt heads-up.

‘flaszeczka’ was no slouch and had won a TCOOP title already. ‘Zackattak13’ is #56 worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings and reached an all-time high of #9 five years ago. He won three PocketFives Triple Crowns in 2011.

Then there was ‘Sr.Rouquinho‘, who laid the proverbial hammer down during deal negotiations in Event #42, an $82 No Limit Hold’em Zoom Turbo. A chop was discussed four-handed, with the eventual champion telling his competitors, who all indicated they wanted an ICM chop, “I need $30k. If you can make it, we have a deal. [Otherwise] we play.”

‘Sr.Rouquinho’ then put a time limit on his offer, saying, “Two minutes for one or some of you to give the [extra] $1.8k. In two minutes, we restart.”

And restart they did.

‘Sr.Rouquinho’ came out swinging after he failed to get the $30,000 he was looking for. He raked a pot worth 2.8 million in chips when the largest stack had 7 million before busting a player with A-10 against Q-J. Heads-up, he held almost a 5:1 advantage and needed all of three hands to take down the TCOOP title and $41,000.

Event #44, which wrapped up late Saturday night, was the TCOOP Saturday Super Speedway. A total of 3,287 players came out of the woodwork for this one, and, appropriately, ‘mrswoodwork‘ earned $27,000 for the win after a five-way deal. The ICM chop left $5,000 on the table to play for.

‘mrswoodwork’ was down 2:1 in chips when heads-up play began against Malta’s ‘4Bullè&Pupè9‘. Ironically, they were the two short stacks when the deal was made, and two hands largely determined the outcome. First, ‘4Bullè&Pupè9’ folded to an all-in bet on a board of Q-J-J-J-6 and, shortly thereafter, ‘mrswoodwork’ assumed the chip lead.

The final hand was dramatic, as ‘mrswoodwork’ called a 4bet pre-flop shove with threes only to run into eights. However, ‘mrswoodwork’ hit a three on the flop and the Canadian earned her first TCOOP title.
