Astrolux85 Wins SCOOP Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up Event

In the high-stakes version of Event #11 ($2,100 Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up) of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), Brent Astrolux85 Roberts emerged with the “W” and $87,000 first place prize following a heads-up chop. The field numbered 194 and in the final pairing, Roberts edged out Patonius2000, who took second place for $75,000. This isn’t Roberts’ first win in a major tournament series, as he took down a $530 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max with Rebuys event last September during the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for $230,000. Now, it’s time to take a look back at Thursday’s action in the PokerStars SCOOP.

The high-stakes version of Event #12, a $2,600 No Limit Hold’em Knockout, was still underway at the time of writing. However, a bevy of PocketFives.com members had already made the final table, including dual World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Brock t soprano Parker. The Triple Crown winner from Maryland was eliminated in third place and collected $87,000. Parker final tabled last weekend’s Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Main Event for $99,000.
Editor’s Note: PokerStars happily accepts players from the United States. Fourth place in the $2,600 No Limit Hold’em Knockout went to New Jersey’s KingDan. His run in the high-stakes event was worth $66,000 and, like Parker, he has formerly appeared at the final table of the FTOPS Main Event. Joining KingDan and Parker was BreakRibs, from the north suburbs of Chicago. BreakRibs banked $46,000 and is a former winner of the Hyper-Turbo $75,000 Guaranteed on PokerStars.

The high-stakes $2,000+500+100 NLHE Knockout Event #12 featured the following final table:

    1. nikov - $160,428
    2. kudos1017 - $119,130 (kudos1017)
    3. t soprano - $87,780 (t soprano)
    4. Danny98765 - $66,880 (KingDan)
    5. BreakRibs - $46,816 (BreakRibs)
    6. ryandawg15 - $35,530
    7. aaaaaaaa - $27,170 (itssuited)
    8. garompon - $18,810
    9. delaney_kid - $13,878 (CNT_CRUSHER)

In the mid-stakes version of Event #12, which came with a $265 buy-in, Justin eljay42 Daley fell heads-up to Full Tilt Poker member ubon1, but walked away with a $68,000 prize. Nearly 3,000 players turned out and 414 finished in the money. Third place went to David dcoop45 Cooper, a former winner of a MiniFTOPS tournament last September. Cooper sports an oversized lime in his profile’s comments section and added another $48,000 to his bankroll.

Fourth place in the $265 No Limit Hold’em Knockout belonged to Andrew bankrollme87 Touchette (pictured at right). The former sixth place finisher in the FTOPS Main Event pocketed $33,000 on Thursday. Touchette is two months removed from taking down the Full Tilt $1K Monday for $65,000 and owns a win in the PokerStars $100 rebuy. Also appearing at the final table were Mike manifest23 Rowe, MiamiHawk99, and Russia’s MaxBNuts:

    1. ubon1 - $91,382
    2. eljay42 - $68,174 (eljay42)
    3. dcoop4506 - $48,737 (dcoop45)
    4. bankrollme87 - $33,362 (bankrollme87)
    5. asdf78 - $25,239
    6. manifest23 - $19,437 (manifest23)

    8. zenmaster666 - $7,844
    9. MaxBNuts - $4,932 (MaxBNuts)

PocketFives.com member SNGWizard came out on top in the $27 buy-in edition of Event #12 and took home $34,000, or 1,259 times his investment. SNGWizard, who goes by “Jeremy” on PocketFives.com, won the PokerStars $40,000 Guaranteed in mid-January for $11,000. Also making the top three of the low-stakes event was Steve Illini213 Barshak (pictured at right), a former Sunday 500 winner. Barshak owns the 22nd spot in the Online Poker Rankings and added another $19,000 to his bankroll on Thursday.
