Australia's SEABEAST Wins SCOOP $1K Rebuy Event[ return to main articles page ]

The 2010 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) continued through Thursday morning Eastern Time, as Jay Kinkade (SEABEAST, pictured at right) captured an outright victory in the SCOOP-28-H ($1,000+50 NLHE with rebuys) for $205,100. The event attracted a total of 341 participants, with the noteworthy absences of PocketFivers gboro780, Doc Sands, whitE_mAmbA, Nickdawwg, who were doing battle at the final table of the $1k NLHE freeze-out SCOOP-26-H tournament as the rebuy event began. Matt thatsnice Larsh of Las Vegas finished fifth in the high stakes Event #28 for $60,400, followed by Jason JCarver Somerville in seventh for $36,000 and Greg DuckU Hobson in eighth for $25,400.

In the mid-stakes version of Event #28, a field of 2,066 turned out for a $109 No Limit Hold’em with Rebuys tournament. When the final hand was dealt, Michael Bonzo9876 Katz walked away with the win and $103,000 first place prize. Katz has taken down the $75,000 Guaranteed tournaments on both Full Tilt Poker and UB.com for a combined $40,000. Heads-up, Katz disposed of tcblade, who won the SCOOP $1,575 No Limit Hold’em Heads-Up event 10 days ago for nearly $200,000.

Rounding out the mid-stakes final table in Event #28 were 91st ranked StuMan123, U.S. poker player boomsquad33, and community veteran Matt All In At 420 Stout:

In the low-stakes version of Event #27 ($22 Limit Razz), Joe crackhAAd Cutler emerged victorious for $10,000. A healthy field of 3,064 players turned out and Cutler defeated PokerStars member RazzKid heads-up. Since last December, Cutler has wins in the PokerStars $3 rebuy, Nightly Seventy Grand, and $5.50 rebuy for over $30,000 total. Also cracking the top three was Ontario’s villus, who banked $5,500.

The mid-stakes edition of Event #27 featured a 569-player field for a $215 Limit Razz tournament. The top 72 spots paid out, led by Crispy86, who walked away with $21,000. Crispy86 defeated PocketFives.com member rkruok heads-up; rkruok banked $15,000 for his troubles. This is rkruok’s third top ten finish in a 2010 SCOOP event; he took fourth in the $162 Ante Up tournament (#13).

Eight-Game and Omaha events will take center stage as part of Thursday’s action in the PokerStars SCOOP:

Event #30-H: $1,050 Pot Limit Omaha High/Low, $300,000 Guaranteed
