Chalk up another win for the Aussies. Liam RAWKZ O’Rourke came away with a coveted online poker Triple Crown after outlasting the fields of a trio of online poker tournaments. He actually took down four MTTs in the process, boosting his bankroll by over $40,000. PocketFives.com virtually traveled to the “Land Down Under” to meet up with O’Rourke, a self-professed fan of the movie “Happy Gilmore” who has been influenced by multiple players in his home nation.

For his first trick, O’Rourke took down the Full Tilt Poker Fifty-Fifty on October 13th, boosting his net worth by $8,200 in the $50,000 guaranteed tournament. Then, it was off to the industry’s largest site, PokerStars, where he trumped the pack of the $8,000 Guarantee Six-Max, which offered up a prize pool of over $17,000.

After putting another $4,200 in his pocket, O’Rourke recorded the largest score of his career by winning the Full Tilt $42,000 Guarantee for $20,000 after the prize pool passed $100,000. On nabbing the $20,000 jackpot, O’Rourke told PocketFives.com, “It was a huge field and it was very satisfying to be able to close out a tournament that had over 4,000 runners.

With wins on two sites in the books, O’Rourke needed to dominate the field on one final room in order to claim a Triple Crown. On October 19th, six days after his mission began, O’Rourke beat out the field of the Titan Poker $50 Rebuy for $7,500. On his mindset heading into his final Triple Crown leg, O’Rourke explained, “When I won the Full Tilt Poker $42,000 Guarantee, a Triple Crown crossed my mind, so I decided to add the UB.com and iPoker MTTs to my schedule. After a couple of days, I was lucky enough to win the $50 Rebuy.” A victory at the Belmont Stakes, for you horse racing fans out there, was finally in the cards.

In case you’re wondering, because we were, his online handle RAWKZ is a takeoff from his last name. It seems really obvious now, but definitely wasn’t when we asked the question. As for the shot of Shooter McGavin (pictured) that graces his profile on PocketFives.com, he told us, “‘Happy Gilmore’ has been my favorite movie for years, so it seemed appropriate.” In June, he took down the PokerStars $100 Rebuy for $16,000 and, to open the month of September, O’Rourke final tabled the PokerStars $125,000 Guarantee for another $15,000.

After catching the World Poker Tour (WPT) and World Series of Poker (WSOP) on television in Australia, O’Rourke dove headlong into the wonderful world of poker. Small-stakes MTTs were his first target and he gradually moved up in levels from there. “There are a few Aussie guys who I chat with pretty regularly about hands and strategy,” O’Rourke explained. “risk2Dupside (pictured) has helped me quite a bit, especially when I was just starting out and didn’t really know all that much about the game.”

risk2Dupside, meanwhile, owns over $100,000 in earnings from tournaments tracked for the Poker Rankings and is a former champion of the PokerStars Nightly Seventy Grand and Full Tilt $35,000 KO Guarantee. In June, he final tabled the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guarantee for $10,000.

If you’re looking to take down a Triple Crown, good luck. In order to do so, a member of the online poker community must win three $10,000 prize pool non-satellite tournaments across three sites tracked for the Rankings within a seven-day period. Oh, and each tournament must have at least 100 players in the field. Learn more by paying homage to the Triple Crown Wall of Champions.
