A very Happy Thanksgiving weekend from all of us here at PocketFives.com. This week, the PocketFives.com Podcast powered by the USA-friendly online poker site Carbon Poker is pleased to welcome Paul badpab2 Foltyn (pictured at right) and Daniel Deoxyribo Sterlitz. The former sits at #10 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings and is one of the top poker brains that the United Kingdom has to offer. So what can you expect to hear this week? Read on to find out.

Recent scores by Foltyn include a win in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for $78,000 in August and a victory last month in the Full Tilt Poker $50,000 Guaranteed for a whopping $47,000. Foltyn told the PocketFives.com Podcast how he got his start in the game: “In the U.K., it was like a lot of other people. There was this show called ‘Late Night Poker.’ They started showing the hole cards through the glass and that made it really popular here. Then, I started playing on Friday nights with friends for small amounts of money. I started playing freerolls online and went from there.”
In addition to being ranked #10 in the world, Foltyn has also taken down an illustrious Triple Crown on PocketFives.com. He’s challenged himself since he joined the online poker community over four years ago and explained, “From the very start, I was always passionate about the game. I enjoyed it immensely and I wanted to get better. I have a thirst for knowledge and I wanted to improve my game. I’ve never stopped now. There’s always so much more to learn about the game.” In the first 22 days of November, Foltyn racked up just over $100,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the Rankings in nearly 60 in the money finishes.

He owns the fourth best PLB Score worldwide and the 18th highest Pro Poll tally. On the influence of other U.K. poker pros on his game, Foltyn remarked, “I don’t play as much as some of the other guys, but when we go to live events, I’m always around Chris moorman1 Moorman (pictured at left) and a couple of other players and we’re always talking about hands and strategies and things like that.” Moorman sits at #4 worldwide and is a former top player in the Rankings. His dad, Simon MOORMAN2 Moorman, is also a poker buzz saw.

On other U.K. players’ games, Foltyn commented, “Chris has a phenomenal game obviously. Even with the #1 ranking, he was still playing five days a week. He’s just an ultimate grinder. Stephen Stevie444 Chidwick (pictured at right) could be right up there if he plays a lot, but he’s focused on the Steps and makes a lot of money.” Chidwick is a former Monthly PLB winner, a Triple Crown titleholder, and a Mod on PocketFives.com.

Finally, Foltyn revealed what he attributes a portion of his 2009 success to: “Playing regularly definitely helps, coming across the same players all of the time. You’re building up a history and you have a lot more knowledge about how they play. If I play more sporadically, it’s hard to get a grip on what I’m doing.” He explained that Moorman keeps him up to date on the online poker scene should he slack.
