UB.com $200,000 Guaranteed, a total of 1,093 entrants battled for a top prize of $48,000. In the end, Carter ckingusc King (pictured at right), an East Coast native now living in Las Vegas, won, defeated a talented final table that included 2009 UB.com Aruba Poker Classic winner Brandon AreTheseUtz Hall and Mike goleafsgoeh Leah. Heads-up, King defeated community member crzysavage. PocketFives.com virtually traveled to Sin City to catch up with the reigning PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event winner.

PocketFives.com: Thanks for joining us. Can you walk us through the final table of the UB.com $200,000 Guaranteed?

Carter King: It basically involved me playing tight and holding onto my chips. Then, as crzysavage knocked out a lot of the other players and took a big chip lead, I let ICM dictate my play until we got short-handed. Three-handed, I was the short stack and crzysavage had a big chip lead, so I knew that the other player was going to be mostly waiting for a big hand. I was able to pick up a lot of pots with shoves and re-shoves to get back into it. Then, I got lucky when I reshipped K-10 offsuit against the other mid-stack and got there. After that, I won a few small pots and then coolered for a big pot and the win.

PocketFives.com: How has your poker volume in 2010 compared to 2009?

Carter King: It’s probably higher than last year, but that’s not saying much because I hardly played then. I’m playing a lot more live now after moving to Las Vegas.

PocketFives.com: You finished 14th in the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic in December. Talk about your run.

Carter King: A final table would have been nice, but I'm happy with how my play has progressed. I feel like it’s a matter of time before I get a big live win.

PocketFives.com: In Las Vegas, you’re living with Dan USCswimmer White (pictured at left) and David Bakes Baker, the same roommates you had in South Carolina. Is it still beneficial to your game to have roommates as heavily involved in poker as you are?

Carter King: It’s always good to have people you can talk poker with even if it’s just to let you know you’re on the right track or help you with new ideas and styles. We’ll ask each other to look at a hand we played. We can send the hand on AIM to the others and then we say what would we have done, how we would have bet, etc. It is definitely helpful and keeps you sane too instead of second guessing yourself due to variance when you’re playing fine.

PocketFives.com: Tell us about your WSOP plans. Are you ready to take on the field of the $50,000 Player’s Championship?

Carter King: I really enjoy the WSOP. I doubt I will be playing that (laughs) since I don’t really get into the tougher games that much. I’ll probably play most of the No Limit Hold’em events and hopefully the $25,000 Six-Handed event. It depends on what the field looks like in that. As a Six-Max, it’s not really my normal thing, but I feel like I can play well and have an edge. There are so many No Limit Hold’em events that I don’t see much of a point in playing the other games that I'm not as strong in, so I will probably play 16 events.

PocketFives.com: Is there anyone you’d like to recognize?

Carter King: There is one player right now who I talk to whose game I really love, but he flies under the radar, so I don't want to break his cover. He's a ranked player, pretty high too, but whenever I ask other players about him, no one knows who he is. He lives in Nevada and crushes hard. That’s all I can say!
