Cash games during the week and MTTs on Sundays: such is the life of PocketFiver Anton Herrmann (pictured), who is better known as VnilaVader. Earlier this month, he was one-half of a heads-up chop of the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up and ultimately came away with the win and a cash injection of $93,000.

His backers were influential in his decision to chop the Warm-Up, as he told us, “I wanted to play on, but I had people backing me with a higher percentage than I had, so I let them weigh in on the decision. As far as the money goes, I plan on boosting my bankroll. I’m playing staked only on Sundays, so I’m not getting the whole cake.” There were over 3,200 entrants in the Warm-Up, 495 of whom made the money.

Herrmann, a member of the Sweden pokercommunity, relayed that he had a solid stack early on. “I maintained a big stack all throughout the tournament for the most part. I don’t think I played very well at the final table, though. I should have opened a few more hands and maybe played back a bit more. I was the luckiest person in the right spots. The key hand was doubling up through gribnogrib (pictured) with aces against K-J suited.”

We have known Herrmann for a while and it’s hard to believe that he is about $30,000 away from eclipsing $2 million in tracked online poker cashes. He is currently ranked #3 in Sweden, according to the PocketFives Poker Player Rankings, and started playing in freerolls as his introduction to the game. From there, he explained, “I got a few bucks and began to grind up cash games. It went very fast after that, as a year later, I played NL10,000 for a couple of months before I realized that maybe I needed a lot more money to be able to survive at those stakes.”

He added, “Mainly, I played NL400 to NL2,000. Around 2011, I began to play MTTs. In the last few months,I have played cash games on weekdays and MTTs on Sundays, but I’m leaning toward playing more MTTs.” In September, he took down a W Series tournament on the EU-friendly site Winamax for $49,000, his second largest tracked MTT to date.

Before playing poker, Herrmann was engaged in a variety of sports including ice hockey, football, floorball, and handball. Outside of the game nowadays, he enjoys reading books, going to dinner with friends, watching sports, and traveling. He added, “I would love to go to a hockey game with BigMeech99” and “When I’m playing poker versus Cal, I feel like the defenders of England against Zlatan: it’s impossible to win.”

Sweden is #3 in the PocketFives Country Poker Rankings, trailing only Canada and the United Kingdom worldwide. The Scandinavian nation moved up one spot last week on the leaderboard and its top-ranked player is Sheater, who stands at #6 worldwide. There are 742 registered PocketFives members in Sweden who have combined winnings of over $51 million.
