PocketFives.com: Thanks for joining us. How does your win in the Sunday Brawl compare to larger cashes you’ve had in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) and PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)?
Chris Moorman: It’s hard to say, really. This one came at a time when I was really low on confidence about my game, so that made it particularly great. The others were bigger tournaments, but I didn't get the added satisfaction of winning the whole thing, which is always nice no matter what the tournament is.
Chris Moorman: It definitely could have been a lot easier. In these events with 2,700 players, the pro to amateur ratio is very low. Often, you could get to the final table and have a table full of complete randoms. However, I don't really fear anyone and just tried to play to the best of my ability. I was fortunate enough to make quads against Carson’s top pair for a huge pot four-handed. jornx went out pretty early too. Also, I would like to give a special mention to PocketFives.com member Yoda, who I got heads-up with. I thought he was real tough and was very impressed with his game.
PocketFives.com: You entered heads-up play against Yoda fairly even in chips. What was your strategy against him?
Chris Moorman: I just tried to play pretty aggressively and make my opponent make tough decisions. The stacks were close to 100 big blinds at the start of play, which benefits me since I have a cash background. However, I found that my opponent wasn't going to back down easily and it turned into a really long match with quite a few swings either way.
PocketFives.com: We’ve heard you’ve gotten into backing?
Chris Moorman: Yeah. In the past year, I've taken on a lot of guys and am investing in their poker talents rather than, say, a house. It’s risky, but I have faith in my players and know they are going to do great things. So far, things have been going pretty well, so hopefully it continues. I’m not accepting staking requests, though, as I'm currently at full capacity. I always get a lot of Sunday sweats after I’m finished, which makes Sundays even more fun.
Chris Moorman: Shout out to everyone I was sharing a house with in Australia recently: Paul badpab2 Foltyn (pictured at right), Dave geeforce1 Gent, Stephen allinstevie Devlin, and Stian JohnnyBelow Stabell. Shout out to Eric gpokerg Wasserson just because he feels under-appreciated in the stable.
PocketFives.com: We take it you’re back in the U.K. now?
Chris Moorman: Yeah. I got back this week and am going to stay here until the WSOP. I plan on donating at EPT San Remo and Monte Carlo before then if anyone wants some value.
