The big fact to look at here is that all top 10 players are ranked in P5s PLB. All 10 of these P5s members have proven themselves as threats on the online poker rooms and are widely recognized in the P5s community.
First on the list is Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi (pictured upper right). This Toronto native has seen massive amounts of success in both online and live play. Recently participating in this year’s World Series of Poker, Mizzi took home over $85K and played brilliantly in the Main Event, winning $51K. Holding down the #1 spot in the rankings for a good while, Sorel has cashed huge this year. Two months ago, he triumphed in Stars' Sunday Warm-Up, while only two days before winning Tilt’s Online Poker Series Event #8 for a combined cash of over $150K. He has over 30 final tables under his belt already this year and is always a joy to watch.Ranked 2nd in Canada, Matt “ch0ppy” Kay is also ranked 25th and is a resident of the huge poker town of Waterloo. Kay has been very consistent in his online play and is no stranger to cashing big more than once in the same day. Back in late April, he was able to win Stars' Sunday Second Chance while cashing for over $13K on Party’s $300K Guaranteed. Even more notable was his win in the Sunday Million back in January of this year, giving him the addition of $200K to his account.
Triple Crown winner and PLB champ for the month of June “timex” is also a current resident of Waterloo. This guy has moved up extremely fast in the rankings with very consistent play. Making an astonishing 35 final tables already this year, he sits at 37th in the rankings. One of his biggest online wins came less than a month ago when he took down a Stars $100 Buy-in for over $23K. Even more exciting was his play against #1 Ranked P0KERPR033 during the monthly PLB Champions Heads-Up match on Stars. This guy has nowhere to go but up in the ranks.
Another big player hailing from Waterloo, Will “TheDreamer” Ma sits at the fourth spot on Canada’s top 10 list. Ma is another one of those double-threat guys, winning the Gran Prix De Paris this year for $574K. In addition to winning huge amounts of dough live, TheDreamer conquered all in the Stars Super Tuesday less than a month ago for $77K and won big in the Tilt $1K Deep Stack for over $51K. Although only 19, this guy already has enough experience, along with nine wins this year, to earn the respect of any table.
Owen “ocrowe” Crowe (pictured left) has been a very solid player, especially about a year ago when he was able to win twice on Stars in the $200 Rebuys along with a huge win in the Sunday Million. He was able to rake in over $286K during this successful run and a lot of points. In live play, Crowe has also proven himself skillful with a handful of top 5 finishes including a 2nd in a prelim at the 2007 Aussie Millions for over $25K and a 3rd in another event the 2005 New England Poker Classic $1,000 No Limit Hold’em for almost $30K.Another player high on the ladder is Michael “SirWatts” Watson. Ranked 6th in Canada, Watson recently won the Stars Super Tuesday for $75K and has made 30 final tables this year alone. Other big victories by Watson include a couple wins in the Stars $100 buy ins along with wins in UB’s $25K and $20K Guaranteed.
Russell “rdcrsn” Carson, a resident of Toronto, has been another solid player for a while. He has managed to win 14 times already this year including in the Stars Second Chance $200 for over $40K and a $30 rebuy for over $15K. His spot in the overall Rankings rests at #39, and he ranks 7th overall for Canada. This week he also accomplished what only a handful of P5ers have in obtaining our Triple Crown Award. Carson won Party Poker's $30K Super Thursday, Full Tilt's $30K Guaranteed, and Stars Nightly Hundred Grand for a total of over $50K.
The last on the list from Waterloo, Ryan “Gotskillz” Fisler (pictured right with Cal) sits within the top 50 in the rankings and 8th in Canada. Fisler has an astonishing 48 final tables under his belt in the last year. He has proven himself as having the chance to win any online tournament. His greatest cash for the rankings came when he finished 2nd in the Stars $100K Guaranteed for almost $28K.Leading in the ranks for the average max buy-in of $50, “poohdabear1” is as much a sure thing as anyone else when it comes to online play. Making a big jump in his debut to the top 100 in the World Wide Rankings, he now sits at #89. Taking down his biggest win on Stars $20 rebuy for $10K, poohdabear1 is living proof that you don’t have to win at high stakes to draw water in the ranks. Having final tabled an amazing 80 times thus far in 2007, this guy has everything to look forward to and no man to fear on the online felt.
Last but definitely not least, we have Cory “UGOTPZD” Carroll (pictured left). Ranked 63rd, Carroll is no stranger to the P5s community. Carroll has no boundaries when it comes to poker, cashing big in both the live and online poker tables. In May of this year, Carroll took down 2nd place in the World Poker Tour Mirage for $561K. Along side of this, less than a month before, he went all the way in the $5,000 WSOP Circuit for $515K. With over a million in live cashes, Carroll was also able to play in the WSOP Main Event and cash there as well for over $67K. One can only wonder how he has time for online poker after all of this live success, but he has many online accomplishments as well, including a 2nd and 3rd in the Stars Sunday Million for $92K and $55K respectively.Congrats, to all of Canada's top 10 ranked P5ers.
