A Damn Fine Week for the Fox[ return to main articles page ]

Aside from a fine week at the tables and lots of bonus money, I just received my contributor's copy of a new magazine called Deal. My pic and a short bio are included a few pages in, and they did a wonderful job presenting the article I wrote. My mom is gonna love it. In fact everyone is gonna love it, go buy it right now. <readmore>

I wasn't sure about the whole thing at first. I got paid so it was a good gig, but you never know what a first time magazine is going to be like. As it turns out the quality (and quantity), of the information contained within is excellent, so I'm lobbying for a staff writer position of some sort. The cover price is $10 but after reading half the magazine I would say it's well worth the money. They included demo's of all the major software on a CD with the mag and it's packed full of useful tips for everyone but the best players. Needless to say I'm very pleased to have my first print article end up in a magazine that doesn't suck.

I'm also giving some thought to publishing some excerpts from my book here in the blog. The book is more than half finished, and getting some feedback might light a fire under me, and get me working on it a little faster.

I've also been reading some of the other blogs, and I've been very impressed with the few that I have read. My good buddy Hatfield is a professional musician as well as a pokerplayer, and he hardly ever goes to see other bands play. Now I understand why. It's hard to look at other people's work much when you feel like you should be creating more of your own. After reading some of Brighttail and Gank's blogs, it looks like I've really been missing out. I'll have to remember to read other people's stuff more often.

Bonus money is everywhere right now, so I'll be playing a lot for the next few days. Look me up at the tables. Better yet look up 2cents, he loves to hear your bad beat stories, and answer questions like "Should I cold call 2 raises in middle position with A5s?"

See you at the final table, Fox
