With the caps removed, PokerStarspro Daniel Negreanu (pictured) Tweeted with glee on Thursday, “I did it!!! WSOP Player of the Year for the second time! Ahhhh I can’t believe it.” Negreanu became the first two-time winner of the Player of the Year honors. He was the first person to receive the award back in 2004, when it was sponsored by Toyota.

Congratulations for Negreanu poured in on Twitter, with Liv Boeree being the first to extend her congratulations: “Weeee You da best!” Fabrice Soulier also exalted Negreanu’s achievement, saying, “Great news! Much deserved, as an ambassador also as a player. #respect.” Poker legend Marcel Luske added on Twitter, “Great achievement, very much deserved congrats!”

Negreanu is a five-time WSOP bracelet winner and finished in the money in 10 WSOP events this year spanning WSOP APAC, Las Vegas, and WSOP Europe. Special thanks to PokerNews for putting together this easy-to-read list of the Canadian’s cashes in 2013:

Prior to the WSOP Europe High Roller event, Matthew Ashton (pictured) had paced the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year leaderboard.
