PocketFives’ very own Daniel DeoxyriboStrelitz is well on his way to making a huge name for himself with his performance in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event. This isn’t shocking for those who have followed him over the years in the PocketFives Poker Rankings, however.

According to our database, Strelitz, who calls Torrance, California home, performed extremely well prior to Black Friday. How well, you might ask? How about $932,812 worth of tournament poker winnings online, with more than half of that earned at PokerStars and over $350,000 of that taken down at Full Tilt Poker?

When the U.S. Department of Justice shuttered action for U.S. online players on PokerStars, Full Tilt, and Absolute Poker, Strelitz seemed to make the transition to the live tournament world fairly easily. He earned his first major live cash in 2011 in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament and went deep at the European Poker Tour’s stop in Prague for $12,050, his largest live tournament win to date.

With his performance in the 2012 WSOP Main Event, however, Strelitz seems to be on the fast track to making a bigger name for himself.

Although he doubled up Steven Geeand bluffed some chips to Roland Israelashvilias the players worked to the final three tables in the 2012 Main Event, Strelitz was able to bag up 12.79 million in chips after Day 6, good for second place overall behind Canada pokercommunity member Marc Ladouceur. He was a sizeable chip leader at his table when play continued on Day 7, with only Russell Thomasand Scott Abrams within five million of his stack.

Regardless of what the outcome for Strelitz is in the 2012 Main Event, the minimum cash he will take home is $294,601, more than a tenfold increase over his $26,641 in live tournament career earnings. If Strelitz were able to drive to the final table, it could be the announcement of a new young gun ready to take on the live tournament poker world.
