We’re down to seven players in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event. This time, David Benefield(pictured) was our elimination, shoving with K-2 of spades pre-flop and running square into Jay Farber‘s A-K. Farber sat back with his hand on his chin watching the action unfold and he audience at the Penn and Teller Theater in Las Vegas was on their feet. The bust-out took place just after a break.

The flop brought one spade for Benefield, while Farber took off his sunglasses and smiled. Former November Niner Ben Benba Lamb was looking on as another spade came on the turn, giving Benefield a 20% chance of coming away with a miracle double up. Benefield nervously looked on as the river was a red deuce, his final card in the tournament.

Lamb Tweeted, “Great game to a great guy and poker player @dwbenefield.” Also giving his two cents on Benefield’s all-in was Sean WireEdenEden, who Tweeted, “Really dislike that shove by Benefield… Just awful. #WSOP.” Daniel Deoxyribo Strelitz added, “Always the 2 on the river to add salt to the wound. Showers: population 2, added raptor.”

In a November Nine rail thread on PocketFives, one PocketFiver wrote, “Farber(pictured) running like god all tournament since day 1 lol.” Farber is your new chip leader at 39.1 million, the first time he has taken the lead during the November Nine.

Benefield, who started the day as the short stack, told ESPN cameras, “It’s hard to be unhappy… I managed to stay alive and move up the pay scale. I’m disappointed, but I think I made a really good decision. I think the K-2 hand I went out with was the right play.”

One of our favorite pieces of commentary on the tournament in general came from #1 ranked Chris moorman1 Moorman, who posted on Twitter, “After watching the opening stages of @wsop Main, so far my conclusion is that if I ever make it there, I’m going to play CRAZY #Joecheong.”
