Kitai became the first poker player from Belgium ever to win a World Series of Poker bracelet. He took home a healthy $244,583 payday for his second cash of the 2008 WSOP. He also scored a $34,664 payday in last year’s Main Event, when he finished 404th. Online, he took down a $530 buy-in High Roller $30K Guaranteed tournament on PartyPoker for $13,702 in December. In March, he took second in the $65,000 Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker for over $15,000. Heads up in Event #38, he defeated Chris Bell. The match between the two combatants lasted for five hours and 186 hands, the longest heads up play yet at the World Series of Poker.
PocketFivesLive.com Tournament Reporter Jessica Welman talks about Kitai’s march through the Pot Limit Hold’em tournament: “Kitai racked up his second cash and first win of the WSOP in the $2K Pot Limit Hold’em event. His success online is clearly translating into a live setting quite well.”
Jeff jeffboski Sluzinski was taken out in 13th place in Event #38 when his A-J came up short against Ayaz Mahmood's K-8 when Mahmood flopped top two pair. He pocketed $11,561 for his efforts. It was his first WSOP Las Vegas cash; he also finished sixth at a Caesars Indiana Circuit Event in April. Online, he’s logged cashes in the Sunday Million and Sunday Warm-Up over the last two months. PocketFivesLive.com Reporter Brett Collson commented, “Sluzinski's taste of the high-stakes scene has officially begun with his 13th place finish in the $2K PLHE event. He plays a high volume online (with buy-ins ranging from $3 - $240) and has seen every situation possible, which makes for a promising future for another online player with high aspirations.”
Chris cdbr3799 Dombrowski was eliminated in 15th place in Event #38 when his pocket jacks ran into Jan Von Halle’s pocket queens. The board ran out A-7-9-9-3, sending Dombrowski to the rails. It was Dombrowski’s third cash of the 2008 World Series of Poker. He also cashed for $13,208 in Event #23 and $4,655 in Event #31. His $11,561 take upped his career total to nearly $30,000. Online, he took second in the Sunday Warm-Up in March for $55,000. PocketFivesLive.com Tournament Reporter Jessica Welman commented, “Dombrowski has been on quite a tear this series. His 15th place finish marks his third cash in 10 days; it’s also his best finish so far this summer.”
In Event #39, a $1,500 no limit tournament, Michael inissint Glasser (pictured at right) finished eighth. It was his third career WSOP cash and second of 2008. He also finished 51st in the $2,500 buy-in six-handed hold’em tournament, cashing for $6,284. Online, he recently cashed in the PokerStars Sunday Million for over $6,000. On the short-stack, his tournament ended when he pushed with pocket nines against Matt Wood’s A-Q. Wood spiked an ace on the river to win the hand.PocketFivesLive.com Tournament Reporter Adam Johnson commented on this rising star: “Glasser is a guest pro on PXF, an online training site, and became an expert sit-and-go player under the tutelage of Eric ‘sheets’ Haber, a legend in the sit-and-go community. It's doubtful that any player at the final table understood the blind to stack size push/fold ratios like Glasser.”
