We nailed the pitching yesterday with Kershaw and Hamels, and Hamels went off at less than 10% ownership so I was stoked with that pick. The Angels scored one run and I’m pretty sure that Tulo outscored my entire Angels stack so I didn’t make any money yesterday. I did drink a bunch of beers at the state fair though and woke up alive this morning so I feel like a winner.

NASCAR and MMA don’t happen until next weekend. Golf doesn’t start until Friday. Fortunately for us they play baseball every day and tonight we have 11 games to choose from. Detroit is playing in Toronto now while BOS @ NYM, STL @ SF, and KC @ TB will happen this afternoon. That leaves us forced to discuss Jeff Samardzija in tonight’s slate. Corey Kluberis the clear top option but he’s also 12.9k and facing the Angels. If you’re a believer in streaks then you’re excited about the matchup as the Angels have been ice cold lately. That probably means I will want to stack the Angels tonight again… they’re still the same team that was scoring a dozen runs every night in July, but now they’re really cheap and unpopular. I have heard whispers of a Mike Trout is hurt narrative, but I don’t buy it without some better evidence. Baseball is a streaky game and the Angels are still good at hitting baseballs even if they haven’t don’t much baseball hitting this month.

Jon Lester checks in at number two but I don’t like his price (10.9k) or matchup against the Dodgers, I still think they’re good at hitting baseballs, team wOBA of 0.331 vs. LHP, that’s 4th in the bigs. I think I’d rather have Jeff Samardzija facing Seattle for 8.3k. I don’t like Jeff’s jump in price but he’s thrown well lately and is facing a Mariners team with a wOBA of 0.308 (18th) v RHP and a K rate of 21.5% (25th). It’ll be tough for the Shark to pick up the win as he faces Iwakuma, another fine option but I’ll take the price discount for Samardzija. Right behind Imakuma is Fiers, the other guy who threw a no no in the last month. Remember that guy who threw a no hitter for the Giants a few months ago? I’m a Giants fan and I can’t remember his name either. They sent him down to the minors last week.

Derek Norris is the play at catcher. If you don’t like him then take Austin Hedges for 2k, they play for the same team. I’m not sure how they’re both catchers because the Padres are in the National League and thus they don’t use a designated hitter. Both are great values playing Philly and can dong for you. Take note of Dustin Garneau, another rookie callup for Colorado. He’s a good play today but not the goodest play, he will be playing in Coors as soon as Monday though. While there are many good 1B options tonight, they are all fairly priced in average matchups. I’ll punt with Justin Bour. Chris Coghlan and Kiki Hernandez are the plays at 2B again. Altuve looks good at the top too, he’s got jack and a bag upside. Kiki slots in nicely to SS as well, if I am spending up I wantEugenio Suarez. Far from a household name he faces Garza in Milwaukee. Only Correa is more likely to dong at shortstop, but Correa has sat out a couple of games with a hammy. Over at third Josh Harrison is the play or Derek Dietrich if you want to save and have a little more pop. In the outfield McCutchen and Marte are the top options but expensive. Harrison works in the outfield too. Pirates stack anybody? Josh Reddick gets a ballpark boost and has lots of power, I like him at 3.7k. Byron Buxton and Jason Bourgeois are your punts.

The Padres are a neat sneaky stack today. The Phillies field the worst defense in Major League Baseball essentially giving anybody facing them free outs. The Padres are cheap because they suck at baseball but Adam Morgan might be suckier at throwing baseballs than the Padres are at hitting them. Wind is blowing out to right at Citizens Bank Park too. The Pirates should score a bunch of runs tonight and their prices are reasonable. Miami looks good in Washington vs. Zimmerman, they should go extremely low owned, but there’s a lot of sneaky pop in their bats especially in rookies Bour and Dietrich. The Dodgers are really cheap as always but they are facing Lester, which makes them good GPP plays, but they’ll likely get mowed down tonight too. They’ve been colder than the Angels. The Machine doesn’t like any other stacks. Good luck out there tonight.
