I left Denver this morning and thought, it’s gonna storm today. It’s been raining all day at my house up the hill. They’re fixin’ to play baseball in Denver tonight, and predicting the weather here may be our most important chore today.

From what I can tell they haven’t had a rain delay for a while in Colorado. Weather here is typically dynamic though so getting rained out is difficult… it has only happened 4 times this season compared to 14 delays. I like it when it rains here because it typically stunts ownership levels, but we certainly don’t want to be rostering players who have a strong chance of being rained out.

David Price is the top pitching option on the slate at 12k facing Cleveland. I like his K upside more than the rest of the guys. He’s a -215 favorite and Cleveland mashes RHP – Price is a lefty. He typically throws more innings than the other guys. Keuchel is a great pitcher in a great spot, but he doesn’t strike out nearly as many guys as Price (8.84 K/9 for Price and 8.00 K/9 for Keuchel). Archer is fanning them at 11.16/9 and faces Baltimore who strikes out a lot vs. RHP – 22.3% this season, good for 28th in the majors. Archer has been pitching well lately too, I expect him to be very popular tonight. I am worried about Archer though because I think Vegas knows something I don’t know – Archer is just barely a favorite at -111 facing Wei-Yen Chen. Bartolo Colon is 6.8k and facing Philly at home. Colon got smashed in Colorado two starts ago and threw one inning of relief a couple nights ago and we can take advantage of that price drop. I need to look into his relief appearance though, that might limit his pitch count tonight and thus his upside.

Posey is my catcher tonight. I also like Grandal and Gomes for cheaper options that can dong for me too. We can use Posey at 1B too, but I’d rather have him at catcher and play Adrian Gonzalez at 1B. Joey Butler is a nice punt. Chris Coghlan is still hitting 3rd, still mashing righties, and still cheap at 3.5k, slide him in to 2B. I like to punt shortstop usually since they typically don’t hit for power. Kiki Hernandez is the punt once again at 2.4k and he actually has pop in his bat. Make sure Mattingly doens’t bat him 8th though like he likes to. EDIT – He left the game last night after straining a hammy. Johnny Peralta is my play now. Jake Lamb playing in Coors is the 3B play, watch that weather though. The Panda has gotten cheap at 2.8k cause he’s in a slump. They forgot to price up David Peralta playing in Coors, he’s 4k and a must play in my opinion. Other fine plays are Brandon Guyer and Chris Young, or Coghlan and Butler if you didn’t use them in the infield.

I like a lot of guys from the game in Dodger stadium, and consequently I am a fan of Giants and Dodger stacks. Those late games typically go under owned. It’s warm and humid in LA today and the breeze is blowing into Chavez Ravine over the right field wall. The Diamondbacks look great in Colorado. All the weather data I am looking at says the game will go tonight, I’m hoping enough people avoid the game due to the weather to keep ownerships low. The Rockies are too expensive for me.

Have fun tonight.
