Sands retained his number one spot in the Rankings this week, a position he’s held since January 13th. Sands won a Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) tournament in May for $259,000 and trumped the field of the PokerStars Sunday 500 in August for just over $90,000. Three days ago, the top-tier PocketFives.com member won the Full Tilt Poker $120,000 Guaranteed for $32,000 and one week ago won the site’s $100 rebuy for $44,000. All told, Sands has raked in $150,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the Rankings so far in January in 31 in the money finishes.
In the final hand, Sands pushed over the top of a raise by TORREY5 holding A-9 on a board of 5-3-Q for ace-high. However, Sands’ opponent called with K-Q for top pair. The turn and river fell an eight and six, respectively, ending his UBOC title hopes.
