Dyzalot's Quadruple Crown?[ return to main articles page ]

To say September was a good month for Dyzalot would be putting it mildly. He went on an insane tear last month with 18 final tables out of 210 multi-table tournaments including 8 wins and 11 top-three finishes. His 20% in-the-money rate is made all the more impressive by the fact that he was able to close the deal so often when he had the opportunity. With so many wins in such a short span of time, it was inevitable that a Triple Crown would enter the picture. <READMORE>For a moment it looked as if we would have to disqualify him on a technicality as his third win came in a tournament that started exactly 168 hours after his first win. Dyzalot left little room for doubt however when he capped off his run of big time wins by taking down the Friday Special on Party for just shy of 40k!

To take down the Friday Special and insure his Triple Crown, Dyzalot had to beat a final 20 players that included Ditka89, BeLOWaBOVe, and ginzorella. His other big wins last week began with the Paradise 90K rebuy, a Full Tilt 9k which beat its guarantee as usual, and the UB $30 rebuy on Wednesday which left the Paradise win in doubt as they started exactly seven days apart. However, with four big wins in less than ten days the Triple Crown was all his.

I was pretty sure the screen name “Dies-A-Lot” was a nickname from a gaming background of some sort, and sure enough he used to be an avid player of Everquest before a more profitable time-sink came along. Joe “Dyzalot” Morneau has been playing poker full time since November of last year. When he’s not camped out in front of his computer crushing the online tournaments he is a pretty decent bowler, with an average around 210-220. I’m glad he wasn’t in Vegas for the bowling party he would have cleaned us all out!

Lenny: Does recognition like the PocketFives Triple Crown motivate you, or is it all about the bottom line?

Dyzalot: While the money is nice, the recognition and respect gained from my peers is certainly an additional motivator.

Lenny: How did you discover Pocketfives? What is your favorite part about the site?

Dyzalot: I was playing on Ultimate Bet in the spring of 2005 and some current member at the time recommended the site to me. I would have to say that Adam's article on SnGo strategy is my favorite part of the site because reading that last year started a domino effect that changed my life.

Perhaps every month won't be like September but I doubt your heater will end abruptly as the weather cools since you obviously have the skills to back up your hot streaks.
