One of the recent online poker Triple Crownwinners on PocketFives.com is Norwegian Richard eidur888Larsen. In order to accomplish the task, a player must win three non-satellite $10,000 prize pool tournaments with at least 100 players across three sites tracked for the Online Poker Rankings in a one-week span. Larsen pumped his PLB Score by 547 points as a result and, more importantly, now boasts a black and gold Triple Crown emblem in his profile.

Larsen’s adventure began on the final day of February. The Scandinavian found the winner’s circle of the Full Tilt $50 rebuy for $7,500. After a short hiatus, on March 4th, Larsen won the PokerStars$8.80 rebuy for $9,500. That tournament’s prize pool swelled to nearly $60,000 and he banked 242 PLB Points in the process. His hat trick came on March 6th, when Larsen brought home the gold in the PartyPoker $10,000 Guaranteed. His final victory was worth $3,500 and the coveted Triple Crown.
When asked for his secrets in rebuy tournaments, which encompassed two of his three Triple Crown qualifying events, Larsen candidly stated, “Push a lot to get as many chips as possible on the table. If you get a big stack quickly, then you don’t have to take as many chances down the stretch.” In the $8.80 rebuy on the world’s largest online poker site, Larsen recalled that he scooped a sizable pot with pocket queens during the last level of play to put him in the chip lead.

Because Larsen resides outside of the United States, online poker sites like PartyPoker are available when pursuing a Triple Crown. Larsen relayed that his normal tournament schedule consists of the PartyPoker $10,000 and $30,000 Guaranteed contests. Although he took down three tournaments in a seven-day period, it took an e-mail from PocketFives.com Support for him to realize that he had won a Triple Crown.

When asked to describe the online poker scene in Norway, Larsen explained, “It’s nice to have a Triple Crown title. Only three players from Norway have it. Poker is like the Mafia here. We cannot play poker. There’s no casino and you can only bet on the lottery.” Nevertheless, the country has produced a talented crop of poker pros. The list includes Team PokerStars member Johnny Lodden, PocketFives.com community icon Dag Martin dmmikkel Mikkelsen, and 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe Main Event winner and Betfairpro Annette Annette_15 Obrestad (pictured at right).

At the time of writing, Larsen sits in fifth on the PocketFives.com Sliding PLB for Norway. Here is how the top 10 stack up:

Four years ago, a friend asked Larsen if he wanted to play poker. Larsen obliged and found success from the start. He recently took his talents to the European Poker Tour (EPT) Snowfest event in Austria after qualifying through tournament sponsor PokerStars. He told PocketFives.com prior to heading to the Alps, “I love the tournament’s 30,000 starting stack and 60 minute blind levels.” He was the runner-up in the €1,000 Main Event of the 2009 Olympic Open Championship in Raga and also cashed in the series’ €250 preliminary event.
