Two events highlighted the Full Tilt Online Poker Series schedule on Tuesday night. A third, the $200 Mixed Hold’em event (13), was supposed to be on the docket, but was postponed until Thursday due to software issues. Event 14 (a $500 buy-in HORSE tournament) and Event 15 (a $200 No Limit Hold’em Turbo tournament) went off without a hitch, much to the delight of the six PocketFivers who made final tables. The six who were the talk of the town on Tuesday included three ranked members of the site, led by Chris moorman1(#2) Moorman, who is finished fifth in Event 14. Let’s check out all of the action from the seventh day of FTOPS IX.
PocketFiver FishOnTilt(#14) finished third in Event 14, the $500 HORSE event with $300,000 guaranteed. The Iowa native took home $32,914 for his efforts. It was just another day at the office for FishOnTilt, whose online tournament resume includes a win three weeks ago in the $200 rebuy on PokerStars for $40,000. He also took down the Sunday Mulligan in March for $45,855 as well as the $150 buy-in $40,000 Guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker (in that tournament, he won $26,532). He had a mammoth 52 cashes in tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings in July for a grand total of $99,838.
Chris moorman1 Moorman finished fifth in Event 14, piling up $13,428 in winnings. The number two ranked player on PocketFives won the $1K Monday on Full Tilt Poker in April for a healthy $82,750 payday. One month later, he logged a win in the High Roller $30K Guaranteed on PartyPoker for $19,662. Last month, he took down the $100 buy-in $33,000 Guaranteed (one rebuy plus one add-on) on Full Tilt. In tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives.com Rankings, he’s amassed $50,000 this month already.
Moorman, a UK resident, logged his first World Series of Poker cashes this year in two no limit tournaments, cashing for a combined $7,062. In my eyes, his most amazing accomplishment was becoming the first PocketFiver to win the Triple Crown not one, not two, not three, but four times; the most recent came on August 3rd. His other Triple Crown wins occurred on August 17, 2007; March 7, 2008; and June 1st, 2008. In order to win the Triple Crown, a PocketFiver must win three $10,000 prize pool tournaments within a seven day period on sites that are tracked for the Rankings. Each tournament must have at least 100 players and satellites don’t count. The Triple Crown has been won 100 times since PocketFives was launched in 2005.
Jason JP OSU Potter made the final table and went out in sixth place in Event 14. He cashed for $9,498 in the process. In December of last year, Potter took down the PokerStars Second Chance for over $50,000. In July, he had a pair of third place finishes in $100 rebuys on PokerStars and Full Tilt for a combined $35,000. In tracked tournaments last month, he piled up just over $60,000 in earnings. Finally, Potter finished 24th in Event 6 of FTOPS IX.
Rex55 rounded out the list of PocketFivers who reached the final table of Event 14. She finished seventh, taking home $6,878. She took third place in the $1,050 buy-in Super Tuesday on PokerStars in February for $33,269. She is also no stranger to success in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, either. In FTOPS VIII, Rex55 took second place in Event 11, pocketing $37,324. She also cashed in Event 1 of FTOPS IX. She’s a native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and her favorite place to play live is, as you might have guessed, Atlantic City.
In Event 15, a $200 No Limit Turbo tournament, ANIMAL5050 finished in second place, taking home $66,000. It was the largest cash of his online poker career. He has recorded cashes in the PokerStars Second Chance, the Fifty-Fifty on Full Tilt Poker, and the $750K Guaranteed. He’s from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, which is just outside of Philadelphia.
Jocke RIPCURL(#60) Treijs finished fourth in Event 15, cashing for $37,000. The Swede has a win in the Daily Fifty Grand on PokerStars for just over $17,000. On PokerRoom, he finished second in the Big Deal one month ago for $23,670. In April, Treijs made the final table and finished seventh in the Sunday Million for $22,245. Earlier this year, he final tabled the PartyPoker $300K Guaranteed four times in three months.
Today, PocketFives’ own Scott BigRiskky Clements hosts a $216 Omaha Eight or Better tournament, the 16th event of FTOPS IX. The event begins at 2:00pm ET (14:00 ET). In the nightcap, Peter Nordberg Feldman hosts Event 17, a $322 buy-in six-max no limit tournament with a $1 million guarantee. Event 17 kicks off at 9:00pm ET (21:00 ET). Feldman was spending the afternoon golfing to warm up for the tournament tonight. Visit Full Tilt Poker for all of the details.
