FTOPS Features $3.4 Million in Guarantees[ return to main articles page ]

The first Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series had $1 million in guaranteed prize money. The second FTOPS had a cool $2.5 million guaranteed – not a bad incentive for anyone playing in one of the nine events that it included. This year, Full Tilt has outdone itself, raising the stakes to a whopping $3.4 million in guaranteed payouts. This year’s event has ten tournaments, the first of which started Friday night, February 9. The FTOPS concludes on Sunday, February 18, with a $1.5 million guaranteed tournament hosted by Full Tilt pro Chris Ferguson.

A press release from Full Tilt described the rapid buildup of the Main Event prize pools: “With crownnginger, the winner of the FTOPS I Main Event taking home more than $161,000, and Spiked taking home more than $224,000 for his victory in the FTOPS II Main Event, the winner of FTOPS III's Big Dance will be looking at the biggest single prize we've ever awarded.” As if the prize money weren’t enough, the winner of the Main Event (and, for that matter, every event in the FTOPS) will receive a special FTOPS gold jersey avatar.

The schedule can be found below. You can buy into one tournament for $109, six tournaments for $216, two tournaments for $322, and the Main Event is a $535 buy-in. The guarantees range from a cool $50,000 to $1.5 million. Joe "hoodini10" Udine comments on this year's FTOPS schedule: "The FTOPS is a great set of tourneys and I'm happy Full Tilt has included more no limit events this time around. I hope to see many more events like these in the future to help keep interests high in online poker."

Past PocketFivers who have won FTOPS events include hoodini10, who won Event 1 of the first FTOPS. In addition, TheMasterJ33 took down Event 4 the same year. PocketFives.com Co-Owner Adam Small comments on the allure of the FTOPS for many PocketFivers: “Full Tilt continues to be a top tier tournament site as they introduce another exciting series of events with very large prize pools. The $1.5 Million Guarantee in the Main Event will give this tournament a larger prize pool than any regularly scheduled event on the Internet. Most of the Internet's top players, as well as thousands who aspire to be in that group, will be participating in these events.”

Full Tilt Poker will be the home of online poker’s greats over the 10-day period of the FTOPS. We look forward to reporting on the successes of many PocketFives.com members in the near future.
