According to a chat transcript pulled from the nosebleed-stakes Omaha 8 tables at Full Tilt Pokeron or around Christmas and posted on the forums at HighStakesDB, Full Tilt pro Gus Hansen (pictured) called out noted high-stakes player SallyWoofor using software to aid his play.

The conversation actually weaved in and out of two areas of contention between Hansen and SallyWoo, starting with some sort of agreement they had over how they would handle matters if someone got disconnected during a hand. It appears they had agreed that if someone became disconnected, the other would not bet, allowing the disconnected player a chance to return quickly. It seems like Hansen may have been disconnected at one point and felt like he lost $4,000 through SallyWoo not honoring that agreement.

The big drama bomb started when Gus Hansen said in the chat, “the computer program right by your side – could be [a]slippery slope.” When SallyWoo asked Hansen if he was accusing him of cheating, Hansen said, “nope I am not,” but shortly thereafter wrote, “I believe you have an O8 program – that’s all I said.”

SallyWoo continued talking about the disconnect deal, rarely addressing Hansen’s comments about O8 software. Hansen gave it one more shot, saying, “since this was probably last time we played – I just wanna add it was funny you were so offended of me saying you have an O8 computer program – since obviously you do.” SallyWoo answered, “ohh lord Gus, I don’t cheat,” before switching back to the other topic.

Reaction to the chat has been mixed in the poker community. Some believe there could be some truth, such as this poster on HighStakesDB: “SallyWoo, KPR16, and cottonseed1 are all really secretive and weird players who hide their long-term results and won’t play each other because they are ‘friends.’ And cottonseed1’s graph was so weird – just going up, up, up and no downs, that it makes him that much more suspicious. Then, he yanks down his long-term graph because he’s paranoid it’s going to look unnatural and he’ll get busted for cheating.”

Others such as HighStakesDB administrator Joytoys felt it was premature to accuse SallyWoo or others of cheating, saying, “They have all been around the online scene for a decade. KPR and SallyWoo in particular were both very successful LHE players and cottonseed1 was a consistent winner at mid-stakes NLHE and LHE for years.”

He added, “There’s no mystery to them not playing each other – they’ve publicly said they won’t play each other heads-up, as they are friends, just as durrrr wouldn’t take Phil Galfond in the Durrrr Challenge. This means they’ll pretty much never take on each other, as they almost exclusively play heads-up (SallyWoo in fact, only ever plays heads-up). They’re not ‘weird’ for opting out of long-term results. Hundreds of players have done this for a multitude of reasons.”

One facet people on both sides pointed to as being a little strange is that SallyWoo never specifically denied using some sort of poker software. Many feel that Hansen was just frustrated from losing. He is the biggest cash game loser that HighStakesDB has recorded, down over $14.8 million since his results started being tracked in 2007. In 2013 alone, he is down almost $8.5 million.
