On the final weekend of August, Rob rtinnionTinnion hit it big in the PokerStars Sunday Million, taking the tournament down outright for $213,000. There were over 7,100 entrants in the weekly $215 tournament and Tinnion was one of three to earn over $100,000.

“I feel pretty good,” Tinnion told PocketFives about his big Sunday Million win. “It still hasn’t really sunk in. I am really looking forward to playing WCOOPs now.” He had three WCOOP-related cashes on September 14 alone.

As far as the Million goes, Tinnion said the action was “swingy,” adding, “I had a decent stack down to the final 200. Then, I had A-KI was tanking almost three minutes for a $30 pay jump. Then, of course, I ran pretty good to get back up to a reasonable stack and found a lot of good spots to exploit the weaker players left in the field on the way to the final table.”

He explained, “As many readers know, the Million is horrible when deep due to the average stack being less than 20 big blinds, so there’s not much room for maneuvering. So, I had to have a lot of things on my side to get a decent result. Luckily, it was my day.” All you need is a chip and a chair, right?

Tinnion is part of a site called Pocarr and said he plans to spend a portion of his $213,000 payday “investing in marketing.” Additionally, he said, “I am also looking to play a bit more live. I will be attending EPT London in October and I’ll be going to Las Vegas next summer.”

Speaking of Vegas, Tinnion has $20,000 in live tournament winnings to his name, according to the Hendon Mob, and he’s looking to add to that total. “I’ve had a small bit of success, but nothing major,” Tinnion said of his live game. “I think with my live game I just need practice. I’ve spent thousands of hours working on my game and am pretty sure my skill will carry me quite far in most live tournaments. But, I’m sure I’m doing some things wrong and it’s probably a case of not knowing what I don’t know.”

The six largest scores PocketFives has tracked for Tinnion have all come in 2014; they include four wins and total over $325,000. “The light bulb has gone off in the sense that I know I need to work my ass off away from the tables to continue being successful,” he evaluated. “If anything, the more I study, the worse I realize I am and so I try not to let the results affect many of my decisions apart from how much alcohol to buy. I would attribute virtually all of my success to Pocarr; without them, I would be nowhere.”

Away from the tables, Tinnion enjoys traveling and wants to see the world while he’s young. He pointed out, “If I weren’t playing poker, I would probably be chasing some entrepreneurial venture, as the idea of working 9-5 for a living has never appealed to me.” His favorite card room on the face of the Earth: Ariain Las Vegas (pictured).
