On Sunday, the second and final day of the PocketFives Main Event at Running Aces played out. The capstone of a 13-day series, the $750 Main Event sported a field of 111 entrants and the top 12 finished in the money. In the end, a three-way chop saw Hank Mlekoday of Minneapolis (pictured) receive $18,802 and the crystal trophy.

As Chris FoxWallace, who organized the series on behalf of PocketFives, posted on our Live Events page, “We have a chop, with Hank Mlekoday getting $18,802 and the crystal trophy. Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who showed up to support P5s and Running Aces.” Mlekoday had the fourth shortest stack entering the final day, but managed to battle to a chop.

The final table took about six hours to play out. When four players remained, it didn’t look as if any of the competitors was going to be willing to chop, but instead it seemed like they’d be fighting it out for the $24,000 scheduled first place prize.

As Wallace narrated, “We are down to four players, but stacks are still deep and we may be here a few more hours. None of our remaining competitors is likely to give up with $25,000 on the line and all four are solid players with significant experience. There have not been any serious chop discussions yet.”

The series began back on April 1 and featured nearly two weeks of tournaments, including a Senior Poker Tour event, a LIPS Ladies Event, and a Pro Bounty on April 5 that took place just hours after a driving snowstorm. Speaking of the Pro Bounty, it attracted 66 players and had a first place prize of $6,300.

We’re still ironing out the details of PocketFives’ next live poker event. Stay tuned for details. Thank you to everyone who came out to Running Aces to support the event and thanks to Running Aces for being a welcoming host venue.
