Finishing 31st in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event was Jackie Glazier(pictured), the Last Woman Standing. She earned $229,000 for her efforts and became the talk of the Rio. A proud Australian, Glazier followed up her Main Event run with a bracelet in Europe in a Ladies No Limit Hold’em event. Given the Main Event is about to wrap up on Monday and Tuesday, we thought it would be appropriate to sit down with Glazier to recap her poker career.

“Obviously, I am so happy to get a bracelet,” Glazier said of her first piece of hardware. “It’s a bit of a mixture of happiness and relief after so many close calls. To get one was great.” Glazier’s “close calls” included a second place finish in a $3,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament during the 2012 WSOP for $458,000. All told, she owns nearly $800,000 in lifetime WSOP cashes.

What has the reaction been from her native Australia about her bracelet win? Is the game flaring up like it was following Joe Hachem‘s Main Event title eight years ago? “Mostly, it has been texts and e-mails since the time difference is so extreme,” Glazier said after her bracelet win. “I’ve chatted with my sister and have gotten a lot of really good feedback. As far as the poker community, they are a close-knit group and it has been amazing.”

Did she have momentum coming off her deep Main Event run? Did the big “mo” carry her to a bracelet win in France? “I don’t believe in momentum like that as far as a lack of run good,” Glazier evaluated. “I haven’t played differently at all. I just play it hand by hand. It doesn’t matter whether I’m playing a $10K or a $1K. I have worked really hard to keep a consistent A-game and make decisions consistently.”

This year, WSOP Europe made its home in Paris at the Casino Barriere d’Enghien-les-Bains, which, as Twitter indicated, was a hit among many players. “It’s amazing here,” Glazier said. “Everyone is happy to be in such a beautiful place, so the feeling is good. I started off with a small tournament for 888 in Morocco and then went to Spain and London. I will relax when I get home. I am going to make the most of my opportunity with 888.”

Speaking of 888 Poker, Glazier is a sponsored pro of the site, which approached him during the waning days of the Main Event in July. “I am very happy to be with them,” Glazier gleaned. “888 is a good fit for me. They are more live-based, which is where my heart is from a poker perspective.”

Some have questioned the value of bracelets coming from a tournament like the Ladies Event, which is not open in nature. However, as Glazier argued, “The bracelet was there and the opportunity was there. It’s a great opportunity in a smaller field. You don’t normally have opportunities like that and there was no way I could pass that up. I do think bracelet events should be open events, but even though I have that belief, I went and took it.”
