PocketFives Member RWinn, aka Randy Winn, shared with us why he enjoys online poker and how he fared at the 2014 World Series of Poker Seniors Event. Winn has made two-dozen final tables this year playing in the Nightly $3K on WSOP.com. His earnings for 2014 in just this event now stand at over $10,000.

He is no stranger to many of the other events that run on a daily basis with payouts of less than $1,000 total. He has come in first place in the following events in addition to the Nightly $3K: $1,000 Deepstack at 5:30pm, the $750 Deepstack at 5:30pm, the $1,500 event at 9:00pm, and the $10 at 10:00pm. Overall, Randy has made a minimum of 29 final tables.

He lightly mentioned that he participated in Event #17 of the 2014 WSOP, the Seniors No Limit Hold’em Championship, and finished 91st. This was an anniversary gift to him. To finish 91st, Randy had to outlast over 4,334 other people and took home $4,004 for his efforts.

Rather than the standard question-and-answer approach, Randy gave us a conversational answer, telling us, “My name is Randy Winn, so it’s not hard to figure out where my online name came from. I am a veterinarian and have lived in Nevada since 1983. I started playing poker since I first moved here and started online because of the convenience, because I love the game, and because it is a way for me to relax.”

He added, “I play most nights that I get off work early enough. I hardly ever play cash, just tournaments. My favorite local poker room is the Orleans, where I play the Friday $125 as often as I can. I played in this year’s 2014 WSOP Seniors Event (it was my 39th wedding anniversary present) and had a blast!”
