PocketFives: What Nevada online poker sites do you play on?

Christina Lindley: I play on AceplayPoker.com, which is a free play site for the Stratosphere. They give away prizes and tournament buy-ins to live events. I am their spokesperson, so I play in bounty events where I am the bounty. As far as real money sites in Nevada, I only play on WSOP.com.

PocketFives: How did you choose your screen name?

Christina Lindley: Choosing my player names is pretty random. Most of the time, it is just a variation of my name. Other times, I’ll randomly come up with some absurd name because I think it is funny, like FrankPutternuts. No one ever thinks that is a girl, which I also find amusing in chat when people talk to me.

PocketFives: How long have you been playing online poker?

Christina Lindley: I started playing online poker back in 2009. I played pretty much exclusively online for two years until I was forced to take it to the live felt as a result of our wonderful government. I’m happy to finally be able to play in the US in Nevada and when I’m visiting New Jersey. I hope the states merge soon. I really miss large fields and huge guarantees being in the US.

PocketFives: How or why did you start playing online poker?

Christina Lindley: I started playing online poker when I met three guys at a table in a Caesars $5K who happened to all know each other well and lived together. They were really good friends and that particular day I just was in a silly mood. We were laughing and joking and by the end of the day, it felt like I had known them forever. They were speaking in what seemed like a foreign language to me at the time (online lingo, which is standard to me now ironically).

I got to be pretty good friends with them over time. One Sunday, I went to watch them grind and was hooked on the adrenaline rush. I couldn’t believe you could play multiple tournaments at once, listen to rap, talk amongst yourselves, and win over $100K on any given Sunday. It was like my wild, roving mind that never stopped thinking had finally found something crazy enough to actually keep me intrigued.

PocketFives: How do you prepare yourself before a tourney?

Christina Lindley: Preparing myself before a tournament, live or online, is pretty much the same. I’m not a morning person at all. I wake up, do a session on Lumosity, which is a brain training site with all of these games to get your brain working, or watch some episode of poker to motivate me. I have a cup of coffee and then head down to the gym. I typically do 45 minutes of cardio and some form of weight training or yoga to stretch out afterward. Being a girl, I take my sweet time getting ready, so I have to allow extra time for that. Once I feel awake and cute, I’m ready to crush faces.

PocketFives: Do you play cash games as well?

Christina Lindley: I play cash primarily live. Cash is like a steady stream of income that enables me to travel around and take shots at all of these bigger tournaments like the WPTs. I consider cash to be my escape from tournaments, almost like a vacation. I usually play $2/$5 around Vegas or $5/$10 depending on which game is better.

I enjoy the social element of it and have learned to appreciate the edge I can find in seeing my opponents in person. Recreational players typically play in these games in Vegas, so you can imagine how much fun they are having just playing poker. They don’t usually care if they lose money as long as they have a good time on vacation in Vegas. This is the type of game I really enjoy for obvious reasons.

PocketFives: Is there anyone who helped change how you approach the game of poker?

Christina Lindley: I could fill this page with names of people who have helped me with my game along the way. I have been really lucky to know some of the best players in the game.
Most recently with my live game, David Randall (GhettoFabolous) has been a great teacher. I have seen great results live in the last year since working with him. Along the way online, my biggest mentors who really worked with me on my online game were probably Paul paulgees81 Volpe, Mark dipthrong Herm, Benson, Amit amak316 Makhija, and Hunter the_hunt_D Frey.

PocketFives: What is your favorite game to play other than poker?

Christina Lindley: Other than poker, I love gin. I play gin all the time. Monopoly, Risk, Operation, and trivia games are also up there. There is a weekly trivia night at Shakespeare’s Pub in Vegas that I usually get a big group of poker players to go to every week, which I love.

PocketFives: What is your favorite local poker room?

Christina Lindley: Around Vegas, my favorite poker rooms are the ones that I have the most fun in and the best places to find touristy/recreational games: the Golden Nugget, Red Rock Casino, the Wynn, and obviously the Stratosphere. On the East Coast, I love Borgata.
