Jesse Elliot (No_Xcapeon PocketFives, pictured) out of Voorhees, New Jersey once said that when online poker returns to the Garden State, he would make a lot of noise on the tournament scene. Elliot is a man of his word. He has wins in the WSOP.com$10K Guarantee Nightly for $2,895 and Ultimate Poker$5K Guarantee Nightly for $1,550. He once won the 888 Poker $1,500 Guarantee twice in the span of three nights.

PocketFives: When did you start playing poker?

Jesse Elliot: My roots in poker grew from old school real-time strategy PC games like Red Alert and all of the Warcrafts. I also became heavily interested in poker after I outgrew Magic: The Gathering. If you’re going to play a strategy-based game, why not get paid to do it?

PocketFives: How many hours do you dedicate to poker each week?

Jesse Elliot: I try to get in six hours of play during the week and about 10 hours on Sundays. I typically have between three and four tables open at a time. I only have two open while studying poker material.

PocketFives: What are your favorite New Jersey online poker sites to play and why?

Jesse Elliot: My current favorite poker site is Borgata. They have so many great tournaments, but I play on all of the sites simultaneously. WSOP.com used to be my favorite site until they changed the daily tournaments to two-hour rebuy periods.

PocketFives: Since the launch of regulated online poker in New Jersey, what has been your most memorable cash or win?

Jesse Elliot: I think I’d have to say taking down the $1,500 Deep Stack Daily on 888 Poker twice in three days. It was only about $600 per win, but it’s not an easy task to finish first in an MTT, especially two times in three days.

PocketFives: To what do you attribute your success playing online poker?

Jesse Elliot: I think my online success stems from the ability to play within my bankroll. Another major factor is the PocketFives community and these articles. The community brings out the competitor in me. Reading about all of these great players and what they have accomplished makes you work harder. I am very thankful that we have a place to share our success together. Thank you, Dennis, for this opportunity and everything you do for us.
