Talk about a major momentum swing. We’re at 21 players left in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event and a massive pot shipped the chip lead to poker veteran Mark Newhouse(pictured). In it, on a board that read A-A-2-3, Day 7 chip leader Anton Morgenstern put in a bet of 750,000 and Newhouse pushed it to 2 million. Morgenstern 3bet all-in to 10 million and Newhouse called, putting himself at risk.

The mega pot saw Newhouse turn over 2-2 for a boat and Morgenstern show A-J for trips. The river was a 4, giving Newhouse a massive pot and propelling him into the chip lead for the entire tournament. Meanwhile, Morgenstern’s stack dropped to 5.3 million. At the break, he is in 14th place with exactly 5.0 million in chips.

You’ll recall that at one point earlier on Monday, when about 23 players remained, Morgenstern had twice as many chips as the next closest player.

We’re at one more level to go in the Main Event before the dinner break. The number of hands each table seems to be playing is also not equal, as according to a Tweet from Kevin Mathers, “According to @RichTryan the secondary table has played 25 hands less than the feature table, and 32 hands less than the outer table #TVTime.”
