I think I'm getting it back together and a few miracles[ return to main articles page ]
I just won the UB 4:00 pm 100. I caught a few miracles along the way. I made 6th in the stud H/L on stars yesterday (pretty decent sized field). More about today........ I was pretty low stacked and raised with 55, I was pretty much committed and another guy reraised me and I knew I had to just give it a shot. I caught a 5 on the turn and doubled. I was still pretty low. When there were 28 left I was in 28th. I just kept hanging in there, pretty much only going all in with Ax (above 8) a few pairs and a few connectors. I didn't get called very much. The only pure bluff is below, which I caught the miracle of miracles with around 22 left..... <READMORE>

River (board: 8s 3h Ah 9s 5d):
(no action in this round)
Showdown:
Luckydog1948 has Ad Kd 8s Ah 9s: a pair of aces.
tallnywrtr has 4s 2s 3h Ah 5d: straight, five high.
Hand #4863227-226 Summary:
No rake is taken for this hand.
tallnywrtr wins 18770 with straight, five high.
When it got heads up I thought I was probably against the tightest player on the table, PHYSIOGNOMY. Whowill was the only person who I recognized on the final table, and some of the play was fairly poor (calling big reraises with a6, a7, 44). Anyhow I knew this guy was pretty solid and he had me outchipped 2-1. I played fairly agressive, 2 betting almost every time on the button and betting most flops. We got to about even when we had a classic hand, my AK vs QQ all in pre. I saw the King come off, got the ace and he didnt catch a Queen. All but done at that point. It's softening the 103rd in the stars 10 rebuy last night where I had A9 vs KJ all in pre and saw a flop of KKK, 3rd bubble drawing dead on flop, nice way to spend 5 hours... Till the next time.
