We’re on a 10-minute break in the World Series of Poker Main Event final table. It’s heads-up, with Ryan Riessleading Jay Farber (pictured) by about a 4:1 count. It has been a rough heads-up for Farber, who started nearly even with Riess in chips, but after a big bluff for a 60 million chip pot has largely gone quiet.

Jason JCarver Somerville gave the following advice to Farber: “Gotta practice for the momentum to swing this hard against you. Very easy to get frustrated, gotta find that inner foundation and stabilize.”

Speaking of that “inner foundation,” Farber managed to right the ship, at least temporarily, just before a break after his J-10 drew out on Riess’ K-10. The money went in on a flop of K-5-Q after a check-raise all-in from Farber. Riess clapped his hands, yelled “Yeah” and went over to his rail that donned “Riess the Beast” shirts. Farber was overheard saying, “I like the way I played.”

A red nine on the turn sent Farber’s rail into pandemonium as their man doubled up to 36 million in chips with a straight, leaving the Lions fans in the crowd looking stunned. Riess drank water, while Farber was busy game planning with his rail by his side. The players then went on a 10-minute break.

ESPN poker commentator Norman Chad remarked, “Farber was looking at a year-long break if he didn’t hit his card. He’s going to go into the break much better off.”
