2010 was a great year for PocketFives.com member Jordan Jymaster0011Young (pictured), the #1 player in the PocketFives.com Online Poker Player Rankings. Young took home the Yearly PLB title for 2010, an award that featured DoylesRoompro Chris moorman1Moorman as its titleholder in 2009. Young finished atop the Monthly PLB leaderboard for December, an award he also won in August. We caught up with Jordan just days after the New Year to recap 2010.

Young’s signature moment in 2010 came on the first day of August, when he took down the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guarantee and Sunday Brawl on the same day. That’s not a typo, either. Young bested over 6,000 players between the two tournaments and walked away with over a quarter of a million dollars. We’ve had several players in front page feature articles say that it marked the most impressive feat of 2010.

On his memorable August day, Young told PocketFives.com, “I think it’s completely ridiculous. I know I’ll never have another day online like that again. I might have a bigger payday online, but it’s going to be because of one tournament; it’ll never be because of winning two really big tournaments. At the time, I didn’t realize how amazing I ran that day. It was a big stress reliever to set myself up comfortably financially.” The $132,000 payout for winning the $750,000 Guarantee remains his largest online.

Exactly four weeks after his miraculous Sunday, Young made waves again, this time for taking down the Full Tilt $150 Rebuy and landing another $79,000. Young also won the $150 Rebuy in December for another $76,000 and explained, “I had a really bad October and November, so I really wanted to put in a ton of volume in December. It was really nice to have great back-to-back Sundays.”

He put in a considerable amount of volume in December despite the month usually being slow for poker players of all shapes and sizes. In fact, he turned in 132 cashes in tournaments tracked for the Rankings for nearly $300,000 total last month to book the December Monthly PLB title. His 3,492 PLB Points were the highest total since Tyson POTTER Marks (pictured) recorded over 5,000 in September and about 1,200 less than in Young’s August PLB win.

Despite constantly grinding online, Young managed to turn in some quality time with family and friends over the holidays: “For Christmas Eve, we had 30 of my family members over to my house for dinner and opened some presents. On Christmas morning, we opened presents and it was probably the best Christmas I’ve ever had because I was able to give away really cool gifts to the people I really cared about because of the success I’ve had this year. On New Years Eve, I went to Chicago with some friends.”

Now, he’s gearing up for his fist ever trip to the Bahamas for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, whose Main Event will wrap up on January 15th. He won’t be participating in the $25,000 High-Roller and $100,000 High-Roller events at the Atlantis, but is instead looking forward to catching up with his peers in paradise: “I’m pretty excited to meet a bunch of people I play with because this is my first time to the PCA.” He’s also trying to record his signature in the money finish in a live poker tournament; there are 48 to choose from at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

We asked Young which of his nine competitors he’d like to see succeed the most in 2011. His response was instantaneous: “HustlerGrune (pictured) – He’s a good friend of mine and grinds really hard. He’s worked on his game a lot and puts in a ton of volume, so I think he has a good shot at it next year and he’s been crushing the past two months.”

Young also wanted to single out Jamie pokerjamersArmstrong, Nick agriffrodMitchell, Bjorn kleathKleathersson, crzysavage, and Moorman for helping him with his game. He added, “Over the past two months, Lauren locoenlacabeza Kling (pictured) has helped me a lot with changing gears and playing more post-flop because people have really started playing back at me pre-flop. She’s really good post-flop and I think she’s going to have some big success coming up soon.”
