Netherlands poker player Jorryt van Hoof began Day 6 of the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event with 3.9 million in chips, which had him in 15th place with 79 players remaining.

Jorryt van Hoof was the last man standing from the Netherlands after fellow countryman Joas Mudde was the last person to bust out in 80th place at the end of Day 5.

Prior to the 2014 WSOP Main Event, van Hoof had recorded almost $360,000 in live tournament cashes. His four biggest cashes were all in his home country of Holland, with his biggest live tournament cash occurring in November 2006 when he finished in seventh place in the €5,000 LIDO Dutch Open Master of Classics of Poker Event for almost $68,000.

Van Hoof won almost $43,000 when he won the 2013 Utrecht Series of Poker. His biggest cash prior to the 2014 WSOP Main Event came on the online poker felts when he won $100,000 in a winner-take-all $5,200 buy-in event under the screen name TheCleaner11 in December 2007.

Early on Day 5, van Hoof found himself battling it out with Canadian poker player Quentin Siffledeen. With the blinds at 12,000/24,000, van Hoof fired out a bet of 500,000 into a pot of almost 700,000 on a board of 3s-2c-9h-2s-8c, which sent Siffledeen into the tank. Siffledeen asked if van Hoof would show his hand if he folded, which van Hoof agreed to. Van Hoof only had ace-high when he showed As-Ks to bring his chip count up to almost 1.9 million chips.

Near the end of Day 5, van Hoof was in another memorable hand when he called American poker player Nicholas Nardello‘s 3bet shove of 305,000 in chips. Nardello’s pocket eights were unable to improve against van Hoof’s pocket nines on a Qs-4h-Ks-Ah-5c board, sending Nardello to the rail and bringing van Hoof’s stack up to 3.8 million in chips.
