The 2008 Legends of Poker Main Event kicked off Saturday afternoon at the Bicycle Casino; showcasing many of today's top online tournament players in a major WPT event. PocketFivesLive coverage for Day 1A ended with Alvin alsmooth Zeidenfeld (pictured) leading all PocketFivers with 86,000 chips.

Alvin had a somewhat roller-coaster ride on his way to accumulating a monster stack. Courtney Harrington, who is covering his third Legends of Poker Main Event for P5's Live, reported the following:

"Al picked up some chips when he flopped top set with queens against Vivek psyduck Rajkumar, who flopped a flush draw and picked up more outs with an open ended straight draw and a flush draw after the turn. Neither of the draws completed on the river and Vivek had to fold when Al moved in. After picking up the 47k pot Zeidenfeld was up to around 60k and among the chip leaders early on."

An hour and a half later, Alvin had gotten involved in two more big hands:

"Alvin alsmooth Zeidenfeld picked up a few more chips but lost a pot to Chad Brown late in the second level to drop back to 50k. He gained ground after getting a player to call him down on a 9 high board. After his opponent check called the 3k river bet Alvin turned over his QQ to take the pot. The chips he picked up there went to Chad Brown later when Chad’s open ended straight draw turned into runner runner trips to win a large pot off of Alvin."

Among the fan favorites in Day 1A was PocketFiver Isaac mr. menlo Baron (pictured), who is considered by many to be one of the best online tournament players in the world. Isaac has taken down the PokerStars Sunday Million and Full Tilt Poker $750k Guaranteed tournaments; considered by many to be the two most prestigious majors on the net. He also has a $74,600 cash in the UltimateBet Online Championship Event #13 for 3rd place. His largest poker tournament score to date came from his 4th place showing in the EPT Grand Final - Monte Carlo for over $900,000 back in April. Isaac ended Day 1A with 52,000 chips.

Scott r_a_y Montgomery (pictured), a member of the WSOP November Nine who will be competing for the $9 million 1st place prize in the Main Event, ended the day with over 73,000 chips.
