Career stats for February’s MPLB winner, ‘lena900’

Given that players from Sweden make up the top four worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings, it should come as no surprise that a Swede won the February Monthly PocketFives Leaderboard, or MPLB. His name: ‘lena900‘. Not coincidentally, he won the MPLB in January as well.

This is the first time a person has won back-to-back Monthly PLB titles since 2009, when Michael ‘rock3656’ Rocco won it in June and July of that year for 2,732 and 3,339 points, respectively. Astedt is now in a five-way tie with two career MPLB wins, joining the likes of Cal ‘cal42688’ Anderson and Griffin ‘Flush_Entity’ Benger. Nico ‘PokerKaiser’ Fierro won the MPLB three times in 2015 (April, June, August), but none of his wins were back-to-back.

Last month, he generated 2,981 PLB Points en route to his first MPLB title. Sweden is now up to six MPLB titles, with ‘lena900’ accounting for one-third of the country’s output in that department.

2,625 PLB Points was the winning score for ‘lena900′ this time around. The largest cash he racked up during the truncated month was worth $12,000 for taking down the PokerStars $215 Weekly Six Max No Limit Hold’em. He earned about the same amount for getting second in the Winamax High Roller one week prior. Other solid scores included a win in the bwin High Roller for $11,000 and a final table in the 888 Whale for $10,000. He has zoomed up to #2 worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings, the Swede’s highest slotting ever.

Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford finished second in the February MPLB race with 2,455 points. He’s ranked #19 in the world, his highest position ever, and won six tournaments in the second half of February alone. Additionally, he final tabled the PokerStars Sunday 500 and Sunday Warm-Up on back-to-back weekends for over $50,000 total. Beresford is #2 in the UK and narrowly missed out on scoring the country’s ninth MPLB title.

“February went pretty well,” Beresford said. “I’ve had lots of solid Sundays in the past month or so, usually on PokerStars. I finally decided to start playing on PartyPoker and that has been going well. PartyPoker looks like it could make a comeback, so to speak. I’m impressed with their tournament schedule and the Powerfest series is really nice as well. If only they could get some new software. I’m not a big fan of the current software, but I believe they could really compete if they tweak a few things. I really enjoy the structure of the tournaments there too.”

Third place in the standings went to Brandon ‘tedSTRETCH’ Merrill, who racked up 2,440 points during the 29 days of February. Merrill, who moved from Costa Rica to Colombia last year, picked up his fourth PocketFives Triple Crown in February after wins on PokerStars.fr, PokerStars, and 888, and he sits at #39 worldwide in the rankings. Like ‘lena900’ and Beresford, it’s his best showing ever.

Queensland, Australia’s ‘Corlusion‘ was the fourth place finisher on the February MPLB leaderboard. He recorded his largest online score ever last month, a second place finish in the PokerStars Super Tuesday for $68,000, which was triple his previous best. That score earned him 457 PLB Points, one-fifth of the 2,360 he gained for the month. The Aussie is #135 in the world and #3 in Australia, both personal bests.

Rounding out the top five in the February MPLB standings was Norway’s ‘prebzzz‘, who finished with 2,280 points. He won the PokerStars Thursday Thrill on February 4 for $52,000, his third largest online poker cash to date, and also took down the PartyPoker High Roller last month, adding another $11,000 to his bankroll. The Norwegian was ranked as high as #3 on PocketFives last year.
