Mark Johns barely edges out CloverSparklesFartShovels for his fourth straight month in the no. 1 spot of the Nevada Leaderboard

Mark ‘wsopfreezer’ Johns has had a kung fu grip on the top spot of the PocketFives Nevada Online Poker Rankings. November was Johns’ fourth straight month holding down the top spot in the rankings and has really proved his dominance over the second half of the year.

While in previous months he has run away with the title, this month he had some serious competition. Johns just barely edged out CloverSparklesFartShovels by 17.37 points to hold onto the number one spot on the leaderboard.

Johns has been holding on to the top spot for the last quarter of the year, but CloverSparklesFartShovels has been making a rapid ascent up the leaderboard.

After a strong July put him in the top 10 in August, he’s done nothing but constantly move up the leaderboard. He jumped three spots in September to move to sixth. Spent one month without any movement in sixth place and then jumped to the third spot last month. Another strong month of November jumped him over ChaosTheory and into second place.

In a month where CloveSparklesFartShovels may not have put in a ton volume, he still found a way to win five tournaments in a month, with his biggest score coming at the end of the month in the $10,000 guaranteed prizepool Sunday Reloader on WSOP.com. He earned over 109 points and $3,696 for his efforts.

ChaosTheory was the player that was jumped and he dropped one spot to third place on the leaderboard. Even with the slight drop in the rankings for the month, he continues to be a mainstay in the top five every month over the second half of the year.

Ian ‘APokerJoker’2 Steinman finished in fourth for the second consecutive month and Jed ‘JCHAK’ Hoffman rounded out the top five after jumping four spots from ninth to fifth.

Steinman, who had a Johns-like run at the beginning of the year and spent several months in a row in the number one spot, has fallen off his earlier pace after the World Series of Poker. Steinman hasn’t found the top spot since May and has become a fixture in the middle of the rankings since the WSOP ended.

Hoffman made the biggest jump of the week. Hoffman spent some time at the live tables in the beginning of the month, racking up a couple of cashes at the WSOP Circuit in Lake Tahoe before getting back to his online grind. While Hoffman lacked the consistent volume he usually puts in, he still won four tournaments and had one massive score by Nevada standards.

Hoffman won the $30,000 guaranteed The BIG Deal Re-Entry event on WSOP.com and netted $11,909. Just two days later, he wrapped up the month with another $2,070 in a $3,000 guaranteed nightly event on WSOP.com for $2,070.

James ‘VintageATL’ Piccolo and Bobby ‘bcm9424’ McLawhorn take up the sixth and seventh spot, respectively, while the lone newcomer to the list this month comes in at eighth. ‘Power’ makes his debut in the rankings due in large part to a huge string of cashes for the month. Power didn’t win any events in November, but he racked up a laundry list of cahses that propelled him into the rankings.

Daniel ‘voff’ Devau and Wesley ‘ESCAPE595’ LeMahieu round out the top 10 for this month. Devau dropped from eighth to ninth and LeMahieu, who debuted last month in the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] spot, holds onto that spot again for November.
