The Merge Gaming Network has taken away the popular Skrille-wallet as a withdrawal option, leaving some people with no cashout options right now. On Thursday, September 10, players at the various Merge Gaming Network rooms, including Carbon Poker, Sportsbook.ag, and BetUSA, received an e-mail informing them of the news if they had Skrill withdrawals pending.

The e-mail read, in part, “We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are no longer able to provide Skrill as a Withdrawal Solution. Due to reasons out of our control, Skrill will no longer be used as a payment option to process Withdrawals. Therefore, we have canceled your pending Skrill Withdrawal and funds have been returned to your account. Please fill out the Bank wire instructions online and request a new Withdrawal via Bank wire. We will be sure to prioritize your Withdrawal once the verification process has been completed.”

Players were then told that they needed to submit identification documents to be eligible for bank wires and were given a few tournament tickets as an apology.

However, some players have discovered that because of where they live and bank, the network will not wire them the money, leaving them with zero cashout options. One Serbian player on Two Plus Two said he gave Carbon Poker a list of all banks in Serbia and the poker room said none of them would work, presumably because the banks use an intermediary to conduct wires. Payment by check was not listed as an option for this player.

Another player said that his identification documents were approved, but then he got hit with, “Unfortunately we are unable to offer bank wire as a withdrawal option at this time.”

As players are scrambling to figure out what to do, one person spoke with a representative at the Antigua Gaming Commission, the governing body that licenses Carbon Poker. He was told that the Commission is aware that Skrill withdrawals were cancelled at that the problem is related to issues with payment processors. He assured the player that the Commission monitors its licensees’ cash on hand and that Carbon is not having liquidity problems.

The Merge Gaming Network, one of the few international networks that still accepts U.S. customers, has been having significant cashout delays since the beginning of the year. Players are having to wait months for their money to return home. This also not the first time at Merge has dumped Skrill. The network and its players went through this same ordeal in late April. Skrill did return as a withdrawal option later in the year.

According to a tracking thread on Two Plus Two, prior to Skrill being dumped, Skrill cashouts were taking an average of 90 days to be completed. Checks were taking about 82 days and bank wires were completed in 41 days.
