During the recently completed Full Tilt Online Poker Series, or FTOPS, Mike telksTelker (pictured) made waves. He took third in a $109 No Limit Hold’em with Rebuys contest for $60,000. Then, he won a jersey for taking down a $1,060 No Limit Hold’em Multi-Entry event. The latter score was worth over $400,000 and, this week, Telker, who plays as CuteIsWhatIAim4 on Full Tilt Poker, sat down with PocketFives.com on our weekly Poker Podcast.

On the Multi-Entry format, which could be found in nine FTOPS XIX tournaments, Telker told the Podcast, “I’ve been liking [Multi-Entry tournaments] a lot. I like that you can, in the big ones, get six entries into one. It gives you so many shots at that big score… It’s going to make the money go to the better players quicker, which is going to dry up the money, but if I’m playing, I don’t mind that right now. There will always be more fish coming too.”

Telker is in the midst of a move to Las Vegas and explained how his life has changed as a result of his phenomenal online poker success: “My daily life really hasn’t changed much. I haven’t done anything too crazy. I want to buy a house in the semi-near future and a new car too, but I’m still waiting on that and letting it ride out.” He’s at #2 in the PocketFives.com Rankings and has booked over $2 million in tracked cashes.

Telker has dabbled in both cash games and MTTs and explained the attributes of the former that have helped him thrive in the latter: “It helped me a lot post-flop. I got a lot more practice with it because, in a tournament, you play a ton of hands, but they’re mostly pre-flop. There are post-flop spots, but you don’t get them as much and you get a lot less practice. By playing a lot of cash games, I played a ton of hands and got some experience.”

When asked to name three players who give him fits at the table, Telker rattled off Taylor taypaurPaur, Jamie pokerjamersArmstrong, and Steve gboro780 Gross (pictured). On his three musketeers, Telker noted, “They all are just really good players. They’re really aware at the tables and they know what’s going on. They know how people are thinking and what their next move is going to be. It’s really hard to out-think them and ever have them make too big of a mistake.”

In addition to his FTOPS victory, Telker took down the Full Tilt $1K Monday twice in a three-month span last year. The tournament requires superior hand reading abilities to win and, on that topic, Telker critiqued, “I don’t think I’m the absolute best or anything [at hand reading]. But, I think I am solid or a lot better than the average MTTer, which is what matters when you’re playing MTTs. There are some really good cash game players out there who are better.”

Finally, Telker, like other members of the community, will descend upon Las Vegas for the annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) in two months. On what he’d do if he won the 2011 WSOP Main Event and what could be a nearly $10 million payday, Telker told the Podcast, “I would probably have a little hiatus from MTTs, chill out, play high-stakes cash, and see how that goes. I think in the end, I’d come back to MTTs because that’s what I love to do… I think that’s where my edge is greater too.”
