Moorman joined the Brunson 10 in September and racked up $164,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the Rankings in December in 73 qualifying scores. Moorman also landed in fourth in the CardPlayer and Bluff Online Player of the Year leaderboards for 2009.
PocketFives.com Congratulations on winning the 2009 Yearly PLB title on PocketFives.com. You must be on cloud nine right now.
Chris Moorman: It’s pretty cool. Playing a ton of volume really helps with something like that, but obviously 2009 was a really good year for me overall and hopefully it continues in 2010 and beyond.
PocketFives.com: Give us your top poker moment of 2009. You have quite a few cashes and tournament runs to choose from.
Chris Moorman: There were a lot of highs and some lows too, but I always feel best when I win a tournament, so I'd say when I won the big $100 rebuy on PokerStars in February for $88,000. It was a great feeling. That being said, there were a lot of great tournaments for me in 2009, so it’s hard to choose just one of them.
Chris Moorman: Interestingly enough, this one was quite easy to win. The points total was only around 2,800. I've had months with over 3,400 and haven't won it, so it really is month-dependent. In December, a lot of people took time off and I was no different, so winning it was quite a shock to me. I was fortunate to have a few larger results in the early part of December such as a win in the UB.com $50,000 Guaranteed, PokerStars $50 rebuy, and a PokerStars Sunday Million final table.
PocketFives.com: You mentioned the $100 rebuy on PokerStars as your top poker moment of 2009. Where does the FTOPS $204,000 cash sit in your mind?
Chris Moorman: I think both are about the same, but I was just a little disappointed with my play in the heads-up portion of the FTOPS tournament, whereas in the $100 rebuy on PokerStars, everything went perfectly.
Chris Moorman: It should be a quality couple of weeks. I’ll be meeting up with a lot of people I haven't seen since Las Vegas over the summer and I'm sure some drinks will be flowing. Hopefully, 2010 can be kinder to me in terms of live poker and I can get a deep run going in the PCA Main Event or one of the side events if I feel like playing them. If not, I just hope to have a good time and hopefully one of my horses can crush it and I can drunk rail them home!
Chris Moorman: He did a great job. I think it was quite informative for any parents of people who play the game. It was definitely a bit surreal listening to him on there.
