Prior to November 19, Chris moorman1Moorman (pictured) held the record with 11 online poker Triple Crowns, the most ever by a member of PocketFives. That day, however, he extended his own mark by picking up his 12th award, now the new all-time number to beat. His crowning glory was a win in the iPoker Network’s $30 Rebuy, which boasted a prize pool of over $20,000. We tracked him down a few days later to learn what went into the making of his record-breaking week.

PocketFives: Congrats on getting a dozen Triple Crowns. That’s really quite amazing. Tell us how you’re feeling.

Chris Moorman: Even though I’ve won a number of Triple Crowns before, this one felt extra special because it had been so long since the last one and I had been on a semi-slump online this year.

PocketFives: What do you attribute the downswingto?

Chris Moorman: I think it began with variance then deteriorated into playing badly. Whenever I got deep in a big tournament, I would feel the pressure and either overcompensate and try to win every hand or go the other way and hope to play solid and run good in order to take the tournament down. Even though I’ve had great success in this game, it’s still quite easy to go on a bad run and lose complete confidence in your game at times.

PocketFives: If you were advising someone on how to win a PocketFives Triple Crown, what would you say?

Chris Moorman: A lot of people win tournaments on PokerStars and Full Tilt and then try to win one on one of the Euro sites. I think that’s the wrong approach. Full Tilt, with its smaller field sizes, is probably the easiest to win a tournament on now, so it’s actually much better to win a Euro tournament first rather than last. I try to play most of the sites in every session I have to give myself the best shot at winning one.

PocketFives: How is your dad, MOORMAN2(pictured), doing? Does he still play online poker?

Chris Moorman: He has been doing well. I think he has between a 50% and 60% ROI on iPoker. He hasn’t played too much live lately, but maybe we’ll see him crushing the 2013 World Series of Poker.

PocketFives: We understand you’re now headed to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the Aussie Millions in January. Do you get concerned with getting run down with so much travel in one month?

Chris Moorman: Hopefully it goes better than two years ago when I ended up getting a flight with five stops between the two. It went from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale to Denver to Los Angeles to Fiji to Brisbane to Melbourne. Last minute planning led to that. As far as getting run down, I’m used to it. Being from the U.K., the grinding hours here used to be horrendous. Many times, I’d play right through two days in a row without sleep. Sleep is for the weak.

PocketFives: Remind us what you do away from poker. What else keeps you occupied?

Chris Moorman: Mainly just a lot of traveling, visiting friends across the world, and spending time doing stuff with my girlfriend on days off. I’m trying to get involved in a lot more sporting activities at the moment, which I really enjoyed as a kid. Football is my favorite one. I’m also doing some less active ones like table tennis and pool.

PocketFives: What position do you play in football?

Chris Moorman: As a kid, I was best in goal, but that was pretty boring, as our team was one of the best in our league, so you didn’t have much to save in goal. I want to get back to playing more on the wing, but first I need to get into better shape. All of this online grinding is starting to get me out of shape again!

PocketFives: What shout outs do you have for the PocketFives community?

Chris Moorman: I would like to thank TheClaimeerfor being the #1 horse right now and NigDawG (pictured) for buying out of our PLB bet this month and inspiring me to play well again.
