According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, shared online poker liquidity between Nevada and Delaware could come as early as this summer. The revelation came during iGaming North America, a major industry conference in Las Vegas. The pact between Nevada and Delaware was announced in Februaryand Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval (pictured) remarked that its “platform” was still being created.

Sandoval could be recruiting other states to join the nascent compact. According to the Review-Journal, “At least 10 other states… are considering legalizing forms of internet gaming. While he can’t affect change in other states, Sandoval told a meeting of reporters and editors of the Review-Journal on Thursday he has had informal discussions about internet wagering with other Governors.”

As it stands now, Nevada has three regulated online poker rooms, while Delaware has three broader internet gambling sites. Nevada is the lone state in the US to offer only regulated online poker, which Sandoval was quoted as saying will likely stick going forward: “I think poker-only works well because Nevada is not like other states. We have restricted gaming and neighborhood casinos. Poker works well with what we hope to accomplish.”

According to PokerScout, which keeps tabs on online poker room traffic, WSOP.com in Nevada has an average of 95 cash game players over the last seven days, the largest of the state’s three sites, while Ultimate Poker is second with 70. Nevada’s third largest site, and the newest, is Real Gaming, which is affiliated with South Point. Delaware is infinitesimal by comparison, with a seven-day running average of just a dozen real money ring game players.

Finally, the Review-Journal quoted Sandoval’s response as to whether a forthcoming bill banning internet gambling in the United States from US Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) would spell the end of online poker in Nevada. “I would question whether Federal law could come in and supersede our state’s laws,” he said.
