The soft launch of internet gambling in New Jersey continued for the second day on Friday. This time around, location verification issues continued as the industry inched closer to the “hard launch” of internet gambling on Tuesday. Players from across the Garden State flocked to PocketFives’ New Jersey poker community to swap stories.

My IP says it is from the middle of Kansas. Have fun boys. FML,” wrote a player from Toms River, New Jersey on Friday night during the second day of the soft launch, which stretched from 6:00pm ET to 2:00am ET.

Dlorican, who lives in Somerset, shared similar verification woes: “I tried launching both Party and WSOP. Party cannot verify my location. They did credit my account with $10. WSOP tells me that it detects remote control software. I just e-mailed them and asked them for a list of remote control programs that interfere with their program. I uninstalled all programs I can think of. So still a no go.”

Garwood’s s.l. halper was experiencing similar verification issues on Thursday with Ultimate Poker, whose sister site was the first regulated and legalized online poker room in the U.S., but was able to log in on Friday: “Ultimate Poker is a go for me tonight. I was unable to verify location last night. Anyone with that problem last night on Ultimate might want to try again. I also downloaded Betfair, but poker is not working as of yet.”

Perhaps connecting to the internet via a hardwired connection could alleviate problems, as JPetch01commented on the New Jersey wall, “WSOP.com still says it can’t verify my location. Was talking to support last night and they said it could be because of my WiFi connection and to try and log in on a land line connection.” Responding to JPetch01’s comment was sethrsch, who wrote, “I had the same crap… On a whim, I tried my girlfriend’s computer and that worked. I have no idea why.”

Morristown’s Joey Ginzo was able to deposit on PartyPoker in New Jersey on Friday and played in a few cash games. He told his fellow New Jersey PocketFivers, “I was able to play on PartyPoker tonight. Got an e-mail that I was invited to the soft launch and got a free $15. Not a ton of players online, usually in the 30s, but the software seemed pretty nice and it seems to have a lot of potential. Limited really to $0.01/$0.02 and $1/$5 SNG.”

Borgata Poker was unavailable on Friday night. Wayne Parry of the Associated Press Tweeted before the soft launch began for the day, “#Borgata #internetgambling site will not be online Friday except for staff; still testing. Deciding Sat on when public can get in.”

On Saturday, the third night of the New Jersey soft launch will take place. If you live in New Jersey, click on the words “New Jersey” in the upper left of PocketFives below our logo to be taken to our New Jersey poker community.
