New Jersey Weekend Tournament Review for December 2, 2013
This weekend featured some of the first regulated online poker tournaments in New Jersey. While some players still had issues getting logged on and verified on certain sites, it did not stop the masses from turning out. PartyPoker kicked off its first Sunday major with a $50K guarantee that had a buy-in of $200. This tournament had 179 runners, with 36 spots paying. Next week, Borgata Poker will include this Sunday Major on its skin, so it should help increase the player pool.
It should be noted that Party and Borgata share player pools and tournament lineups. Party/Borgata also had a $10K guaranteed New Jersey’s Next Poker millionaire freeroll that only qualifying players were able to play. This had a whopping 1,851 runners, with 324 places paying. The winner got a $1,325 ticket into the New Jersey Next Poker Millionaire Main Event.
WSOP.comguarantees included a $10K with a $109 buy-in on Sunday that featured three New Jersey PocketFivers making the final table. The $25K guarantee with a $215 buy-in had a total of 118 runners, with 20 spots paying out. The only notable guaranteed tournament on 888 Poker was a $1K that was won by PocketFives member fishaments (mikewebb68), who has been very vocal in the New Jersey poker community.
Ultimate Poker and Betfair did not run any major tournaments over the weekend. Below is a rundown of how the action looked in New Jersey.
