Nothing like a day off![ return to main articles page ]

Saturday I didn't play poker. Saturday night I went out and had a good time. Sunday and Monday I have been making a killing. The theme on our boards at pokerfox.net lately has been taking some time off when you are running bad or playing bad, and I heartily agree. <READMORE>

Taking a little break from the game and enjoying yourself is not only good for your head and your social or family life, it's very good for your game. Poker is intense and it's too easy to get caught up in the game and lose your ability to step back from it and see things objectively. I definitely paly my best after a little break, and one night out did me a world of good after working way too much for a few weeks.

The occasion for the night out?

MINI KISS!!!

That's right a Kiss cover band in full make up and comprised entirely of little people. The guitar player was around 4 feet tall and he was at least a head taller than the rest of the band. They basically are a karoake band and their instruments aren't even plugged in, but seeing a 3 foot tall dude with a huge tongue and Gene Simmons face paint on was worth the price of admission by itself. Pics of me with the "band" coming soon!

In other personal news I've been working on the Galaxie and it runs pretty well now, though the timing mark is impossible to find so the tune up is not yet complete. After that it's wheels, a paint job, and maybe twin turbos when I get some spare cash. Anyone know where to find turbos for a 40 year old Ford 390?

I'll see you at the final table,
Fox
