There is some big news brewing in the tiny nation of Costa Rica this week, as it was announced that PocketFives.com, the premiere online poker community, has entered into a partnership with PokerSourceOnline.com. The move will provide members of PocketFives.com access to an unparalleled set of resources. In addition, PokerSourceOnline.com will inherit one of the largest online poker communities on the Internet today.PokerSourceOnline.com President Michael Jackness comments on the motivation for partnering with the online poker community: “As the industry continues to change and adapt to outside forces and pressures, we are very excited to be partnering with one of the largest forces in the online poker world. PocketFives.com brings the second largest poker forum and the most coveted online poker rankings anywhere under our umbrella of services. I’m confident this move will allow us to leverage and pool our resources, ultimately providing a better product for our customers.”
As part of the arrangement, Cal Spears and Adam Small, both Co-Founders of PocketFives.com, have relocated to San Jose to continue working with Costa Rican-based PokerSourceOnline.com. The site will also retain its Head Moderator, Lenny Sharlet, though he did not make the trip. Riley Bryant, the third and final Co-Founder of PocketFives.com, will remain associated with the site in a support role. Many of the contributing writers for the online poker community will remain on board.
Spears notes that the PocketFives.com community will thrive under the new arrangement: “We’ve created a partnership with PokerSourceOnline.com that will bring nothing but positives for all of our members. PokerSourceOnline.com has developed an incredible infrastructure that affords us the resources we need to continue growing the community and improving the PocketFives.com experience. Things are moving quickly and we've got a lot of exciting projects in the works already.”
It was also announced that PocketFivesLive.com, which provides live coverage of online poker players in the biggest live tournaments, will be on location at the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event. Last year, over 500 PocketFivers played and even more are expected to enter this year. Moreover, the PocketFives.com rankings, which were the hallmark of the site when it first launched in January, 2005, will begin to track more tournaments on more online poker sites. In addition, the rankings will soon be broken down by country. This reflects the managerial mindset of PokerSourceOnline.com, which has developed a considerable non-U.S. presence after being launched in 2004.
The move is a win-win for PocketFives.com and PokerSourceOnline.com. Visit www.pocketfives.com for more information on the online poker community. Visit www.pokersourceonline.com for the best online poker promotions and features anywhere.
